I moved here to Pittsburgh and had been in pain management for 16 years, went to Advanced Pain Management, I felt like a number and not a person! They did prescribe some meds all different than what I had been taking ended up in so much pain it was unbearable to put it mildly then they suggested or more like insisted on injections which as a person who has already had my share of that in past years and several surgeries told them I wasn't ok w that they threatened to take away pain meds crazy , I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who wants to b treated like a person all they want is money and office visits don't generate enough so beware

yes they are that stupid. I'm betting that 75% are just looking for pills. I say let them hang then maybe they will stay off the site.

you can remove Center for Pain Relief from your referrals. Went there for 20 yrs, was on opiates this whole time. New Drs. come in and tell me I'm not in pain. Have all the mri's etc., to prove it. She is now taking me off meds. I'm 62, not a frequent flier, and now I won't be able to function again.

I am 60 and have lupus, fm and a myriad of other illnesses and I am up to hear trying to get relief from this pain that were I not a Christian, I would have gone through with taking my life. My husband and I own 3 businesses and I need to b able to FUNCTION. Even at a diminished capacity. Steroids work but can't get them either even tho I would rather have a good year or two. Lupus does the same to me that steroids do. While I realize that patients have lied to get opiates-- I hold the physicians mostly accountable for this crackdown ! They should be able to tell those in need of pain meds--if they can't , concentrate on first aid. Now we are in a crisis and I am so sick of this!! I think we should file a CLASS ACTION SUIT against the HMO 's and take the DEA to task for DISCRIMINATION! for it surely is!! People who r injured can get all the pain meds they need cause they r short term. I feel it is discrimininatory to deny those of us with chronic pain regardless of age etc., the same management. If they can't tell who needs these meds, I would offer to help them out. Ask anyone who has pain--they can tell who needs meds! We have law schools that may be persuaded to take this on minus costs as an ongoing internship for their students- if not we need to rise up. It is definitely discriminination! Since when r disabilities limited to public restrooms? Maybe the HMO's would find fighting a lawsuit more expensive than the drugs we need to function. I found no history that opiates were only intended for short term use and not everyone gets addicted. My thoughts are if these drugs that we need to function r to be withheld --we better have a LAWFUL REASON. We need petitions to politicians, a class action suit that I am sure we would win. I am tired of this pain so bad I don't want to live and even more tired of feeling like a drug addict , ashamed and put on the defense. No person who shouldn't have drugs should b able to get them. Oh and I was on sleeping meds, 8 mgs of dilaudid-120/mo, perc 10 for breakthrough pain (240/mo), some klonipin and more just 8 mos ago. I felt I was too immune to them and was afraid to have stronger meds--So I took MYSELF off everything so that I could start over. Unfortunately, I got rid of everything but the Pain! After 4 mos I kept thinking suicide so now I am on 15 mg Percocets. I am not a drug addict. I was addicted to nicotine but just put those down after 39 years. I now have my first visit to a pain clinic and am worried about maintaining my 15 mg percocet. I really think we should join together. Action speaks louder than words and I want some answers from the Dea and HMO' s. I know I didn't prescribe all these pain meds all these years, did many of you? Why r we being targeted? How about better training for doctors and getting the Dea off at least the pain management doctors back. Isn't that why pain clinics were started?

i feel you bro, i am the same exact way kept I'm 25 and a us army infantry combat veteran, i get denied at the VA even tho i did my time and spent 11 months in afgahnistan where i was blown up and shot numerous times luckily my plates saved my life, and the VA tells me I'm not eligible until i get my service connected disability and then approved but that could be up to 2 years from now. and everywhere i have tried even UPMC pain management has all been a waste of time, and like you nothing works for me anymore nor ever has other than percocet and oxycodone and Opanas, i can't stand to live anymore and is to the point where i don't want to live anymore cuz i can't take this pain and the ptsd n nightmares all in one from my service, I'm 25 and have the body of a 90 year old, 2 blown out knees that are gonna need replaced both of them in 5-10 years b4 I'm 35, my mid/lower back is just pain all day everyday, my right shoulder is torn n scapula is dislocated, my neck has 5 bulging disc n aren't aligned properly and that plays into my shoulder n moving my neck just rips into my shoulder n causes even more pain in my shoulder and neck on top of the chronic starting pain in each. so FML. so far all i have heard of that is legit is John P. Murtha Pain Center in johnstown, I'm about to call them and see what the deal is. if you hear anything or get any help please let me know and send me an email {edited for privacy} and if you give me your contact email i will do the same for you if i find anything out and have any success in find a good pain doctor that will help us in our situations.

UPMC PAIN MANAGEMENT IS A F***ING JOKE!!! do not waste your time or money, they will give u ibuprofen and a electro shock machine and charge u 200$ for it when they are supposed to give you a 30 free trial for it and then u can return it. well i waste $500 going there n that damn machine they tried to bill me for only made my back n shoulder worse n more pain and caused more muscle spasms. they are a joke seriously don't waste your time

Dr CHERYL BERNSTEIN is an A** I saw her twice and she treated me like dirt and gave me no reason. The last time she had all the docs and trainees in and acted all professional. Asked me all the correct question efc. And after like an hour said well I'm not going to treat you. And don't even bother paying your copay. It was like she was providing a teachable moment for her staff. You should have seen the faces of the staff lile secretaries ... they felt terrible for me. I cannot believe anyone would suggest her. I guess if she gives you what you need you think she would be great for others. YOU ARE VVERY VERY WRONG!! My PCP thpought she woudl see me (the 2ndtime) because I had a refefrecnce form her. My origonal PCP had been arrested.

When you lift heavy barbells for 25 years in order to compete with large human beings you can injure yourself as I did...... numerous failed spine surgeries/rude little doc's who think that their lives go on forever. I cannot help you... I am moving West.Perhaps the constant cloud cover in Pgh.12 months a year has created the aforementioned.

My name is John and I suggest Dr CHERYL BERNSTEIN at UPMC Center Commons, 5150 Centre Ave. SUITE 400. 412-665-8030 She wrote 120 percocet 10/325s first visit. She just has to receive your medical records first. You WILL be asked for urine and you will have to come in every month before you are due to run out of meds for a pill count. If you can handle that you're in like Flint. Good luck. {edited for privacy}
