Find A Doctor That Prescribes Methadone In Cuyahoga Cty. Ohio

I'm wondering if there are doctors available in cuyahoga county ohio that can treat patients on a month to month schedule with methadone. I currently go to a clinic daily and am finding the fuel for transportation harder to come by everyday. I would like to see a doctor that can write prescriptions for methadone to avoid this. Thank you

Thank you for the quick response and advice concerning my issue. I will research your suggested physician as soon as possible to see if the possibilty exhists for me to transfer my care to this facility. Jenna, hello I wanted to let you know I did call the suggested doctor and unfortunatly there office only works with bupenephorine(suboxone/subutex) and not methadone. Thank you again for your quick response I'm starting to think there is some of law preventing what I have reqeusted.

Try Dr. Paul Hannahan in Painesville, OH 44077 Lake County. (Not too far) I know first hand he prescribes this.

Not a law but AMA guidelines which makes Rx'ing methadone more difficult than you may otherwise expect. For addiction Methadone is only allowed to be dispensed by a Methadone Clinic. However Methadone can be Rx'ed for pain in a normal Dr office setting. Essentially to find a Dr who would Rx Methadone, they would either Rx it for pain, or Rx it 'as if' it was for pain.

AMA have also been recommending all the pain Dr's move away from Methadone, to one of the more traditional options. Personally I was moved from Methadone to MS ER, for my chronic lower back pain.

Essentially a Methadone Rx is still theoretically possible, and some Dr's might roll old-school, but right off the bat it means the situation has become a rarity.
