I'm looking for a doctor who will treat my shoulder, neck and arm torn rotater cuff and 50 % of my tendons are torn or gone. I'm in chronic pain most of the time and recently lost my job because my current doctor lowerd my perscription from 10 mg percocet x3 a day down to x2 a day.? That one taken away made a big difference. I have no med ins. Now but I do have mri's documenting the damage to my shoulder. I believe the reason is that he sold his practice and is taking orders from someone else.could anyone recomend a doctor or practice that will treat my issues. J myrtle beach,sc

Hello there I live in the top of South Carolina right outside of Greenville. Can you give me some information please? I just got cut off yesterday. I was going to a pain management. they have one in Spartanburg, they have one in Seneca one in Anderson, one in Easley. they are a big outfit. I don't know if that is who you are talking about or not. I had been going for almost 4 years getting 180 oxycodone 30 milligram. please help me if you can refer me to someone. I need it desperately. I'll run out this Friday. they want to give me Opana. I don't know what that is so I took it to CVS and it's $1,000 and it's time released. they said that they did not want to give any more instant release in South Carolina, some kind of new law. I think they were just telling me this. if you can help me please respond back. thank you!!!
If you don't mind traveling a few miles there are some good Dr.'s in the Columbia and Greenville area. They really care about you and the cause of your pain. Just call around for the ones who are seeing new patients. Some of them will take Medicaid/care and you don't have to pay up fri t like these pill peddlers make you do. Blessings that you receive the help you need.
I'm so sorry that you're having such issues.
Do you qualify for any type of public assistance to cover prescriptions? Have you looked into it?
The way things currently stand, many doctors won't prescribe these types of medications on an ongoing basis for a patient that doesn't have insurance and even if they do, they are many pharmacies that won't fill them. When someone is paying cash for them, it is much easier for them to doctor/pharmacy shop to try to beat the system and get more medications than they should each month.
However, someone's being insured helps eliminated the problem, because their insurance will only cover one prescription each month.
And there are many new strict regulations that were put in place as of April 1st of this year, which is most likely what caused your doctor to lower your daily amount of Percocet. On the east coast, there have been many changes made, including how long a doctor can prescribe these types of medications and how much of them they can prescribe. Thus, it really has nothing to do with him having sold his practice, it's due to government regulations.
