My 67 yr old father goes to a doctor is absolutely horrible and is 40 mins.away .trying to find someone local.he has to have a comp doctor in order to have comp pay for them ,their rules.he is on an antidepressant and sleeping aid and a pain patch.he has been on these meds foe 20 yrs and they don't seem to be working and this guy has him in and out of his office in 5min,and is very rude.feel like we have no other choice since good doctors are hard to find.please help.something has got to change.michelle

The best suggestion I can make would be to contact his comp insurance company and ask for a list of local doctors that accept their coverage.
However, if he is currently seeing a general practitioner, then you will need to look for specialists. Under the new laws that are being enforced, general practitioners will no longer be allowed to prescribe pain medications for long-term use, regardless of why someone is on them or what their coverage type.
They will have to see a pain management specialist to continue receiving treatment.

And yes, that generally does mean that he'll have to start seeing 2 different doctors, one for the pain patches and another for the antidepressant and sleep aid.
Have you checked to see if the comp insurance has a hotline you can call for doctor referrals?
