Pharmacist will tell you they are out of a drug because they don't want to fill it if you are taking all control drugs (hydrocodone, oxycodone, xanax, soma, tramadol, etc
I have been in pain management since '07 when my primary could no longer treat for chronic pain & i have been with the same pharmacy until 2months ago they quit carrying my pain medications which i have no chance of having any kind of quality or fruitful life w/o them but have been unable to fill in over a month,my medications are Dilaudid 8mg & Methadone 10mg can anyone offer advice or help shed more light on what is happening & or how i might remedy my predicament? Thank You in advance. grocery store
Yes, 30mg is almost impossible to get, legitimate prescription or not. I'm sure yours is but trying to fill it away from your normal area, impossible. Like mentioned earlier, I'm prescribed the 10mg for breakthrough pain, go to the same pharmacy for years, same pharmacist, but the government can now step in and tell my doctor he can only prescribe so many per month? But I can get 100mg morphine with no problem? That makes NO sense whatsoever.
That's partly why you should discuss with your doctor about getting an extended release medication. The oxycodone barely last 3 hours. But works much better when taken with the ER medication. Plus you'll be able to lower the dose of the breakthrough pain med. Short acting meds is not for treating long term pain.
You could also try a pharmacy near pain clinics, hospitals, as they tend to carry most pain meds. Patients usually go to the nearest ones to fill the meds. Good luck. But please discuss the ER med with your doctor. Have you though about seeing a pain specialist? If you do, make sure he's board certified in anesthesiology. Best wishes to you...
I don't know about GA, was born in Stone Mountain but that's about all I've got for that. However, usually the pharmacies at the hospitals keep everything known to man in stock. Also, Good Neighbor Pharmacies are a good source as well.. otherwise, walgreens, rite aid, cvs or costco (u do not require a membership to fill them there). These store have always supplied me what the dr presribed even if they had to order it, cvs usually has in stock less that, usually 12 to 24 hrs, rite aid is the lease expensive of the three should u have no insurance, tho Good Neighbor is the cheapest by far, often less by as much as 2/3 less. Also, for no ins. Or extra prescrition covereage, go online and to discount pharacy cards which are totally free and save me up to 70%, but be careful. When I used at good neighbor the receipt said I was paying 60 dollars more than the previous mo. I had him recheck and sure enough, it went back down in price. And never be afraid. God bless, mel
30mg? I went to 4 local Walgreen's to fill my oxycodone 10mg and no one had it in stock! That's my breakthrough pain med.
Just a suggestion, since it's so difficult to fill, maybe discuss with your pain doctor about an alternative?? Lots of meds work as well, cost less money, and provide much better relief. Besides, assuming it's the IR, maybe see about getting prescribed a ER med so you can lower the mg of the IR oxycodone? You also build up a tolerance to them and they lose their effectiveness.
I was in the same boat. I'm having the pump implanted after the trial period and the mg's needed (I was told) is about 1/100th the amount I take orally. I sure can sympathize, chronic pain really sucks :-( I hope you find relief soon. Good luck.
There is currently a shortage, so most pharmacies do not have them in stock to fill prescriptions, due to the mandatory yearly manufacturing limits.
Learn more Oxycodone details here.
Additionally, due to the difficulty of verifying the validity of a prescription from outside the area, many pharmacies will not fill it.
And to add problems on top of difficulties, the FDA and DEA are enforcing mandatory ordering/stocking limits on pharmacies, so many will not fill it for those outside of the area, even if they do have a supply, because they need to keep it on hand for their regular customers.
Where are you from? Can you get it filled there?
I am very sorry that you are suffering, but things have gotten so complicated with such prescriptions recently.
Try Jacksonville north carolina or anywhere in south carolina... I live in southeast ga and alot of people I know have to drive there to get them but almost every place there has them!.
