Ferrous Sulfate + Folic Acid Vs Ferrous Sulfate

hi!! i would just like to ask if it is safe to take ferrous sulfate with folic acid (200mg/400mcg) or just take Ferrous sulfate (325 mg) alone? im just wondering since im just 18 yrs old turning 19 and have noticed that i have low iron since i really have a pale skin and whenever i press my fingernails, it takes more seconds before it will go back to normal. i suppose i have low iron since even a pharmacist adviced me to take ferrous sulfate because i always looked like im sick.

now, my sister has a friend in health center and gave me free ferrous sulfate + folic acid, manufactured by Nestor pharmaceuticals. I was just wondering if i should take it daily since the indication said its for :

Fe-deficiency anemia & folate-deficient megaloblastic anemia. Folic acid deficiency in women of childbearing potential & pregnant women to protect against neural tube defects in their offspring.

and the dosage is :

Adolescent 1 tab wkly; pregnant women 1 tab daily after 3 mth of pregnancy; lactating women 1 tab daily.


..i really dont know if i should take it 1 tab weekly or daily. or just dont take it and instead buy a ferrous sulfate without folic acid.

what does folic acid do in our body??
