Ferrous Oxide Yellow

I took omaprazole last night and got very sick then my tongue and pallet swelled with my tongue burning and the roof of my mouth burning. I am allergic to FD&C yellow 5 and 6. Is this the name for yellow 10 and why do they put this into medicine when so many asthmatics have this allergy? The FDA should ban all colors in pills to help with this and make drug companies stamp the name of the drug on the pill or some other type of identification.

No, FD&C Yellow 5 and 6, are Yellow 5, and Yellow 6, Yellow 10 is a different one, that's why they are numbered like that, to tell them apart.

Many companies have been removing the colors, due to the fact that some people are sensitive, or allergic to them.

The FDA didn't ban them, because overall, they are generally considered safe, due to the low number of people in the general population that have reactions to them.

What are the markings on the one you are taking? Is the manufacturer listed? How long have you been taking this medication?

According to FDA reports, Omeprazole has been known to cause GERD, as a side effect, which could explain your symptoms. Other side effects may include: dry mouth, indigestion, diarrhea, and stomach pain.
