Will the sleepiness go away after I have been on the fentanyl for a few months? ## I just started the 25mcg patches w Norco 5-325 for bt pain. He upped me to 50 mcg and I can hardly stay awake on day 2. I can barely function. Will I get used to it or do I need to back down to 25. The pain level is great w the 50, tolerable w 25 but much more comfortable with 50 but I can't function, I have to work. I started on the 50 patches on Jan 5th. Any experiences would be appreciated, never taken any narcotics before this. ## Hello, Claudia and Bev! How are you both? Yes, side effects are usually transient and tend to improve, as your body gets used to the medication. The FDA lists this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause other side effects...

Is it really dangerous to get in a hot tub if you are using the Fentanyl Patch 25 ## Hello, Claudia! How are you? Yes, it can be very dangerous. Anything that raises your body temperature can cause the patch to release more medication, at once, than it should, which may result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I need to ask if anyone using Fentanyl has had a horrible family reaction to their use of Fentanyal. I am a 69 year old female that has advanced spinal stenois. I have chronic pain and I am limited to a wheel chair because I have no balance anymore. . I do have a full time job and use the chair at work. I thank God everyday for fentanyl with out it I wouldn’t have any life at all. At this time I am on 75 mgs and I have Percocet 10-325 for break through pain. My doctor is very careful with my dosage because I will need more Fentanyl at a later date. My family won’t stop telling me to just accept the pain and stop the Fentanyl. They make me feel like I am weak and a quitter because I use Fentanyl. Anyone else have this problem? I feel so alone. ## Hi Margaret! I'm sorry th...

pain control medication for person that has had 15 abdominal surgeries.Abdominal muscle damage, 2 bypasses, 40% of stomach removed, exploratory to locate appendix, attachment of liver to stomach, gallbladder removed, abdominal abcesses. ## Hello, Grinch! How are you? In such cases, the Fentanyl skin patch is usually prescribed, that why it bypasses the stomach, so there is nothing to hinder its absorption. It is a very potent medication, over 80 times stronger than Morphine and each patch is worn for 48 to 72 hours, depending on the person's pain levels and tolerance. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I'm wanting to fill my fentanyl prescription online. Does anyone know about a website that's legitimate were i can have my rx filled? ## Looking for injectable fentynal or 100mcg patches depending on the pharmacy's refill cost. Can they be filled and shipped to me? ## This site does not manufacture, nor sell any medications or products, it is an information only website. And as to a legitimate place to get Fentanyl without a prescription, such a place does not exist. If they were legitimate, they'd require a prescription. If you order somewhere without one, then you would have to take the associated risks. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Hi, I live here in the Philippines and have level four prostate cancer which has metastasized to my bones. The bone pain ...

I am taking Fentanyl patch 75mcg/hr. can this med cause bad pain in the rectal area including butt bones sore to the touch? ## Hi Roadrunner, You know I haven't found anything actually that directly relates to the type of symptoms you're describing, listed on the drug monograph. However the closest side effects I did see mentioned were "indigestion and abdominal/stomach pain" - which makes me wonder if this discomfort/pain could potentially spread down to that region. None the less, if it's become too bothersome or severe, it's probably something you'd want to have your doctor check out just to be on the safe side. The U.S. National Library of Medicine also lists "body aches" under a category called 'Incidence not known': ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubm...

i have half of a 50mg fentanyl patch and im wondering if you can take it? ## It is not safe to do this with any medication, they should only be used in the manner that they are intended to be used. There is a very high risk of overdose, with Fentanyl, because it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine and even the non-gel patches are time released, so abusing it could result in your getting too much, at once. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is it ok to use Fentanyl (non-gel) patches, even though they're expired? I have taken the gel patches before and it worked better than I hoped, just took a little bit longer to kick in compared to dilaudid. I just used a 25 mcg. sticky non-gel patch, that expired in 2011. Can I expect it to work better soon?

I had no problems receiving all but my scheduled II prescriptions. When I called them to find out why I haven't received these prescriptions they claimed they never receive my scheduled II prescriptions. I just need to know how long I have to wait from removing a fentanyl patch to taking an opana er. Fentanyl patch is 12mcg/h and opana er is 15mg. ## Hello, Purple! How are you? Were you provided with any instructions for switching? Other than possibly some time, there shouldn't be any other reasons to have to wait, since they are both narcotics and don't cancel each other out. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, the Opana isn't as strong as the Fentanyl, so you may still experience some withdrawal effects, such as nausea, dizziness, chills, headache and diarrhea, as listed in the databases.

my husband just took a Fentanyl Transdermal System) along with lyrica 200mg and takes 10mg percocet 1 in am 1 in pm what will it do I am afraid for him. he he is very sleepy any idea ## I am not a Dr. That said, it would be helpful to know what dosage strength of FTD your Husband took. I don't think you have anything to be worried about. These are small doses and he prob. needs the rest. I can't say more tip I know the Dosage strength of the Fentanyl. . . . QEMSOZ ## How is he doing now? The sleepiness is normal, especially with the Fentanyl, since it is a very, very potent narcotic. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Combining it with the other medications can cause some depression of the central nervous system, which is likely contributing to his feeling drowsy. What you should...

How long will it take and how dangerous to me . I have been on same 100 Mcgraw for approx 15 years for degeneration of disc , spinal stenois, 3 back surgeries at 4 levels and still some herniation going on but done with surgeries that just make it even worse and oh yea I also have knee damage in both knees but can still pop back into place not as painful as back. ## Hello, Annie! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. If you were on it for that many years, it will likely take several months to do a proper slow and safe taper. This is a very potent narcotic, over 80 times stronger than Morphine, so you have to stop it very slowly, to avoid severe withdrawal symptoms and rebound pain. However, by working with your doctor, you can set up a proper tapering schedule and they can...

My pain doctor was out of the country for 2 months. I was seeing her P.A. who was amazing. I hadn't planned to stay with this new pain doctor anyway she was horrible. Anyway, I called for over a week to ask the nurse what I should do because I couldn't keep the fentanyl patches secured and used more of them, I was on my last one. I called everyday and left a message. She calls me back saying I couldn't get any refills until my appt. In 4 more days. I pleaded with her that I'd read the leaflet and feared the extent of the withdrawl. No answer. So I took some old (expired) meds that I had so I could fight the withdrawl. I brought them with me and told the P.A. While I was there what I did. She sympathized and seemed to know there were issues like this. I found out that day...

i going on suboxen and need to knnow when i start subs ## Hello, Mike! How are you? You actually need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone. It contains Buprenorphine coupled with Naloxone, which neutralizes other narcotics to prevent them being used, while someone is being treated with it, so taking it too soon could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. What instructions did your doctor provide? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long have you been off of the Fentanyl?

I can't find a pharmacy that has 100 µmcg patches patches in Houston ## Hello, Chrystal! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. We are now into the time of year when there is usually a shortage of controlled substances, due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer reaches their yearly allotted limit, they cannot manufacture any new product, until after the new year. Every year, we inevitable end up with demand exceeding the supply, which results in a shortage for the last few months of the year. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The best suggestion I can make is to see what your pharmacy does have...

I've been on Fentanyl 25mcg every 48 hours for 3 1/2 years and want taper off. I'm finding it hard to stretch them to 72 hours, only made it to 60 hours. Also take 4-5 Norco 10/325. I'm wondering if it's possible to trim my Mylan patches to 2/3-3/4 in size to start tapering. I'm thinking of asking my pain management Dr to reduce dose to 12.5 at next appt in 2 weeks but want to start tapering ASAP. ## Hello, John! How are you? No, it is not safe to cut the patches to try and do that. That could actually cause you to absorb too much of the narcotic, at once, which could cause an overdose, since this is a very potent narcotic. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry ...

Need doctor to prescribe fentanyl patch cause it works so good.need doctor in Somerset,Kentucky area. ## Hello, Dasie! How are you? If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. However, there is no way to know whether or not a doctor will prescribe it for you, or any other medication for that matter. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? That might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
