Fentanyl Spray Mist 100 Mcg To 1600mcg (Top voted first)

Updated

Is this medication prescribed for certain patients only? I have seen some kind of program. You have to be in rims access program prescribers patients, and the pharmacies have to take an internet class.

Yes, I took fentanyl for fifteen yrs orally and now just patches. The form is easy - just fill it out and have your Dr. fill one. If he prescribes fentanyl he is already registered, then most major pharmacies will be registered. If not call rims and they can tell you what pharmacies near you are. Worst case, you have to have the pharmacist fill out form, they might be able to do over the phone.

Wikipedia lists the following (estimated) rates of bioavailability for each respective method of Fentanyl administration:

92% (transdermal)
89% (intranasal)
50% (buccal)
33% (ingestion)

However, I have not heard of the "Fentanyl mist or spray" until now and can only hypothesize that it would fall under the 33%-50% absorption range.

I'd also bring into question the duration of action for this spray vs other forms of administration.

What does your doctor think about it?

I've got a very bad C2 thru t1 with osteoporosis, with severe pain 24/7 at a level 10. Tried surgery. Cropectomy c3-c7. Prior to knee replacement I fell and ruptured C7-t1. Visited a surgeon who's no help now. Was given 200 mcg fentanyl + five 30mg oxycodone. Just need help and guidance. I contacted John Hopkins in Baltimore. Got to get there.

Fentanyl patches used to be one of the last resort medications. Now it seems to be one of the first ones that the pain doctors push and Medicaid will pay for it. As far as I know, it's three days on and then replace. But I'm sure they have different sorts like 2 days, and so on and so forth. I have tried it before. I have multiple problems including cancer. But what I found to work the best for me is actually Oxycontin 10 milligrams which is naturally an extended release.

The bad part is your insurance will not cover it most the time. I had a hard time getting my insurance to cover Opana. It finally did and when it finally covered Opana, Opana no longer worked for me. Went to talk to my doctor about being switched to something else but come to find out there pulling Opana from the shelves. I guess a bunch of addicts are abusing it and dying from it, so they're pulling the brand name. I don't know about the generic. So the next step was that they put me on Oxycontin 10 milligram ER. You must keep in mind I'm about 5'7" and on a good day 105 lb.

But I got a call from my insurance company that they will not pay for it because I have not tried and failed on Fentanyl, which is not true. And frankly, with all the side effects and all the lawsuits and people just straight up dying from Fentanyl, I don't want to try it again. And I don't think it's going to help the problems that I have whereas now finally, with the Oxycontin 10 mg I can finally sleep at night and wake up in a good mood the next day. Even if I'm in a lot of pain I feel like a brand new person.

My daytime medicines are in the same family as my nighttime but it's not as strong, but it does help and my spirits are much happier so even though it's $120 for 30 of them, and my insurance company keeps coming up with ridiculous reasons not to pay for it (like last time they didn't want to pay for opana all of a sudden, which is cheaper than methodone and fentanal patches btw), as I did not try and fail on methadone of all things. Why would I go on methadone when I'm taking Klonopin and Percocet during the day? That makes no sense at all, it's counterproductive.

Anyhow that's all I can leave that I know. Good luck on your search for your answers. But I will say I do know that fentanyl is the number one thing being prescribed (it is a dangerous medication even when properly used or taken so unless you are in tears 24/7 I'd think about something in the lesser families). It used to be that fentanyl and oxycontin were reserved only for dying, cancer patients like me, but these days its written for mild to severe pain, and usually at a pain clinic they sell them from there instead of going to a pharmacy.

I was in school to be a pharmacy tech a couple years back before major issues, and I never have heard of a certain amount being made and then running out before the end of the year. Somebody posted something about that. I've never heard about that, maybe that's just the state you live in. I wish people wouldn't post things like that cause it scares other people.
