my patch keeps coming off prematurely. can you recommend a solution?
Hi there,,Try a Tegaderm Cover..it is waterproof goes over your patch and can get in a drug store, cvs I know carries them.. I was lucky my health plan pays for them , they can get expensive..it's made from 3M.. Thou maybe other companies make it.. They have latex free also if u need cause of allergy
I HAVE BEEN ON ALL MG'S OF FENTALYL. now am on 100mg's. have trouble keeping it on also. Finally tried my right side of chest.. Had it on my back my ankle and arms, never stayed on, even used small amounts of duck tape, but the looked stupid. So far it is holdig.
My legs are restlles and cramping a lot.
I would like to know if, ratio-Fentanyl 100 mcg/hr, is better to take than 4 oxycocet a day and 1 oxycontin 40 mg. 3 times a day??. I know that the oxycocet and oxycontin could damage your liver, but what about the Fentanyl??
as with most things, different makers have slight differences in quality, in my opinion, having tried at least 4 different brands of fentanyl I have to say that "Ratio" is the best of them. it is clear plastic and sticks real well to skin.
I too used the waterproof patch called tegaderm . They have ones for those that are allergic to latex free like myself. Stays on in water until you take it off. My insurance actually covered in from a company that I would just call them and they sent, Just needed a script that I was wearing the fentanyl patch. No longer on fentanyl. Weaned self off patch with no real withdrawal . Took from May till middle of July to stop completely, thank acupuncture for this, still going twice a week was going three until two weeks ago. Pain really isn't much worse after being on it over 9 years. Happy off the drugs
The other posters are correct, sometimes something else is required to help keep them on, such as another adhesive product, or waterproof medical tape.

Are there any other questions?
I had the same problem.Went to Walgreen's and purchased Nexcare (I believe that's the brand). It is a clear sticky cover which works keeping the patch on! Went swimming, showering & used the jacuzzi. At times it was difficult getting them off. Good luck. Judy
You can buy Tegaderm at Walgreen's, it's an occlusive dressing and apply it over the patch and as long as you don't have adhesive allergies it should hold through showers, etc. until the next patch is needed. Sometimes happens, may ask doctor about changing brands, some do better than others, good luck.
