Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 38)

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

See if you qualify for the program through Johnson and Johnson. If you qualify they will apy for the patches up to a year.

I did wean myself from the patch. The worst side effect for me was pain in the joints. It did take me probably two months to do this, but it is worth every moment to know I don't have to have a patch on anymore. I di still hurt but I will live with the hurt. While on the patch I had the most soul deep hurt I had ever experienced. I'm sure it was from my body wanting a higher dose of the patch.

I just would give my left arm for some sleep. I maybe have had 2-3 hours a night for the past week.......this makes for tired...

He all good for you Si and all the others for getting off this patch, I know it wasn't easy as i too have been weaning down to 12mcg from 100. Nanny Won't they give you something for sleep? My doctor will give me 2 a month and only two because physician samples don't have just one. He's a trip when it comes to sleeping pills. Not sure why. Anyways, I hope everyone is well and enjoyed your 4th.

Shannon, I get 30 Ambien a month. But after 2 hours my eyes just come open automatically. Then I can't co back to sleep. I don't know what else to do. I exercise (if you call cooking and cleaning for 6 people plus mowing 3 yards a week) and I am so tired and sleepy when I do go to bed, around this time every night, but after a couple of hours, I just wake up. I do this five nights a week and then I crash for about 5-6 hours one night and one night only. Then it starts all over again. What to do, what to do, I don't know.......

Nanny that happens to me too. Try mixing two differing sleeping aids. I'm sure your not supposed to but I'll take a norco and a perc maybe once a month if my pain can't be managed. Oh and btw, wtf is oral morphine sulfate. Ya, I got a bottle. Thought it would knock my "..." in the dirt. It doesn't do nada. Is this for real? Anyone have this before? And no way on taking it another way. I am terrified of heights and needles! Oh ya and bunny rabbits. Lol. Those "..," have scratching back legs.

Shannon, oral morphine sulfate is a good pain med but it don't give you a high unless you take alot of it. 180mg is alot to me but I have taken alot in my life and my tolerance is way high.....by all means take it for your pain, it will help. I'm with you on the needles. Don't get me wrong, I use to use some of my meds that way when I was stupid but I'm not stupid now.....I need what I get when I get it and if I start to abuse it then I'm up a creek without a paddle.....you know what I mean....And them days are over...I want to live now that I'm gonna die...Etienne, where are you brother???? I miss you so much....

Hey Nanny I wish we could talk outside of this site. I'm a total idiot as I too get what I "need" and want mostly because I am too honest with my doctor! I've shot myself in the foot by doing so at times as my pain fluctuates. Even though i told my doctor before he told me it was time to taper down each time from my patches. I actually told him I LOVE the way fentynal makes me feel but I know it's too much as I started to heal. But even after a couple months of being on 100,75,50, ouch 62, 50, 37, 25... And so on because of the nerve damage and bone stuff done my monthly cycle makes my pain really flare up. I told him how hard it is to know the difference between being an addict by wanting more to feel "human" and enough to just kill the pain. I guess my honesty hasn't harmed me as he's still a phone call away. Plus he said addicts dont ask to be weaned down frequently with verified pain and no increase begging except that 75 to 50 time. I guess that helps. My depression stinks today but as we discussed before I can't take anti depressants as Id be a statistic with a child's mind. I have a batch of brownies my friend made me but they make me grumpy sometimes and I'd rather have a couple waterwork days then be angry at the soooo many ppl that are less than empathetic (cruel) or what I pray are just seriously clueless about how much words can hurt some ppl. I just cant fathom that unless someone has been in (our?) situation understand that they should just not say anything to me if it is not nice. I too am in a very small town. I... Nvr mind. I'm sure u get it!!! Hope your doing well today.

I myself is weaning self off fentanyl 75 every other day to taking it now once every 9 days as of today, the pain has not increased which I feel is good for me, I have been seeing a acupuncist three times a week and I feel he is helping, just do not know how much longer have to take the patch.Been on it for many years, any suggestions how long this going to take me, ambien doesn't do much I only sleep 4 hours with it , then up but not tired so I guess I am lucky,

Hi Lill, have you tried instead of wearing the same strength patch for over a week a lower dose? The jump down from 75 to 50 wasn't easy for me but I made it. Kinda. Lol. Had to add a 12mcg to it for a month then down. Definitely weaning down helps. I'll bet that acupuncture really does help. I know massage really helped me when I could afford it.

I've lived in both the addicts and the dependents body and I can tell you, YOU ARE NOT AN ADDICT.... If someone wants to down you for trying to control your pain, then they are the ones that need the help. You do what you have to do to maintain and don't listen to those that don't have an understanding as to what words can do to a person. At least you are not just laying in the bed staying all effed up to where you can't enjoy life to a certain degree. And I am saying this because I do care about you, and I know what you are going through. People judge you without cause and they have not even gone through a piece of what you have gone through. This is what I call closet addicts because they take things (maybe not pain meds but meds just the same) and think that what they do is just fine. They say things without caring how you feel or how bad you feel. Please don't lower yourself to their level, it distorts your feelings and makes you feel like crap. nh253 is the first @ the second is bellsouth with a net on it. Hello Was placed on fentanyl 25mcg's in jan '12, for problems w stge IV prost' C, w met'z's.., they 50 mcg's , NOW WEANING off!! went from 50 to 25 for 2 wks, now on 12- having sweats, nausea,SHAKES, - told by Dr , that synthetic morpheine,,( fentanyl is 80 x stronger!!) paralizes the intestines, and can be extremly dangerous , as w ALL morphenie, based products- WILL get clean so my system can NATURALLY recover - drinking water, and flor-essence GREAT for Cancer patients!. PLEASE get OFF these DRUGS!!

No I haven't done the lowering dose, I have been doing this since middle of may and honestly the pain level is pretty much the same without changing my patch every other like I was doing. Feel the acupuncist that I am seeing three times a week is helping and will continue since my health coverage is awesome, thankgoodness

I wish my insurance would pay for acupuncture or massages. I'm getting a nerve block next week. I hope it works as I start school a coue days after. Nanny, I hope you got my email, if not I'll try att? I hope everyone is alright.

For four years I have been on the 75 mcg/hr Fentanyl patch. I no longer can function as a human. I have severe RA in my spine, Fibromyalgia, Lupus and I just had my right hip totally replaced.

I can not get out of bed. This is not an exaggeration! I started an antidepressant called Pristiq. Guess what? The side effects I googled listed fatigue in the first four side effects.

So, I am quitting. My 75 patch has been on 14 days. Where do you think that puts my Fentanyl level at? I have had few withdrawal symptoms; sweats, tears, restlessness.

My doctor gives me Morphine Sulphate for breakthrough pain.

If I understand you all correctly, I guess I should go on 50s next. But I am so sick of the years wasted lying in bed as a zombie, could I go to 25s??

Am I crazy or is this medication doing this? Geez, when I found out they give this strength to cancer patients I was shocked. My doc says it looks better on his record to have his patients on continuous release meds rather than pills. Apparently , people abuse pills but not patches.

Great for him but I can't get out of bed! I've lost years to this drug and finally my friendly pharmacist clued me in.

My hubbie is a saint but it's wearing thin, I think.

I'm scared.
But determined.
I mean really, I'm so bed-bound I might as well be dead for all the living I do. I had great passion and drama in my life always before.

Ditto Angle, your my twin. Don't forget those 12 mcg that can be added to the 75 ,50 and so on.. Good luck with your pain. I can't take the depressants opposite effect. I have 15's for the breakthrough pain, I sometimes need 30 at 4 and 7am. Omg, so much pain. I've been through so much too. I know 100mcgs would help me make it through school but I'm afraid because around Xmas or feb it will be so hard to wean down,
. It was so hard to get or make $$$ to get gas for the 8k for no one wants to hire a chronic off n on pain part timer. I'm broke to. Watch my car will need major repair too, I just paid it off. I think at 42 that I need a part time home health care provider.
Where Is nanny and et? I need and miss you.
Angle, partners or hubby's that have never had pain just don't get it. Good luck an stay in touch.

Shannon, I'm still here. I'm just lost......I let a good friend tell me it would not hurt to try a feww pills that I used to take, said it would not hurt me. Well, now I'm messed up, sturg out and depressed. I knew better, I just wanted to believe so bad. Now I'm in the bed sick with withdrawals, messed up my doctors and with no hope. Mom's been a saint and understands, she wants me to try to maintain till Ican find another doc and insists on giving me money to get something everyday to keep me from being sick, but that isn't what I want. I want to be sick so I will remember this. I'm so sorry that I let people down and so sorry that I let myself down. I'm a sick person and I hope there is some hope for some people out there that needs the help they seek.
