I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

I have been on the patch for just about 2 yrs now only 25 mg. I have lost my appetite and lost about 50lbs since being on it. I am tired of this weight lose and not being able to eat. I started weaning myself off yesterday, I actually cut about a 1/4 of the patch off and will continue to try and do it that way till its no longer there. I normally change every other day but I am going to push myself and change every 2 and keep pushing it longer and longer till there is no more patch left. I am hoping this works cause I am sick and tired of what this drug has done to myself and my family.

Angel, in bed at the moment, lucky my hubby is making chicken soup, he likes to cook and I am grateful , I use to love to do it all but with my pain its getting harder to sit long, stand long without it getting worse. Everyone should take a baby asprin daily if you can. I am allergic so once again I am screwed..I play on my iPad a few games as I can't sit long at my PC no matter how I try..I try to be positive and do what I can .. Each person body lets then know what they can handle.. I rather do things instead of feeling sorry for self does not help anyway so why bother..hope all of us trying to be stronger anyway we can..thanks for caring..

Going crazy-- I was on it for 9 years straight,,changing every other day.. Took self off it this past may by myself. I just decided I had enough medicine in my system.i did it slowly without going down the patches.. Just left them on longer, took me till middle of July to be off completely.. No bad side effects for me, maybe I was just lucky plus high tolerance to pain and drugs. Now trying to deal with nothing but Tylenol or a occasional percoset. Also trying to stop taking ambien as thy saying causes dementia long term. Great my mom has dementia and that's something I myself will not put my family thru.. It's not living just breathing..

Thanks here I am checking in.. Laying down trying to not think of how much I hurt.. Was out shopping for a shower I have to go to so was on my feet for several hours.. Was going to bake but changed my mind. Maybe tomorrow.. The cold weather already is adding my my pain, arthritis also in my back. Last nite could not get to sleep for hours tossed and turned. More people getting sick from those cortisone shots for the back.. I am due for mine. Only three a year, I try and do only two since really do not get much relief anyway for it..
No one understands what a bad back is still you have it yourself, or chronic pain, plus all these drugs ,side effects do more damage,, my next place will have a hot tub ,hopefully .

To the person who asked how long we have all been on Fentanyl patches. Reverse the search order at the start of the blog and read the whole thing.

Nanny I'm affraid of the doctor not refilling mine also. And Chelle I always have 3-6 days of hell prior to refills too. I think nanny is right about our body using more some days as I can feel mine not working. Eat a ton if brownies and sleep through the pain. If you eat enough it will work. But I'd rather have a huge plate of Spag or a vat of mashed potatoes :) omg so hungry. At least we can eat whatever we want now. Lol ooh a apple fritter sounds yummy. I'm going to get one now.
Angle, it will be a challenge to figure out that address I can't believe your number got through. I've saved it with the email and ready for my daily puzzle. Where did all the men go lol did someone mention Aunt Flo and freaked them all out? COME back!!! We'll be good.

Lol I was soooo grumpy last night Her kid reminds me of mine. She's 22 now. Ok I'm gonna read more of the novel I'm surprised I didn't sleep with my rope again.

Hey all, Angel, my post get blocked at times also, but they always post them after a couple of days. The daughter that loves my spaghette, along with everyone else, is 41. But she works 12 hour shifts on third at the hospital and helps me with a lot of things with my doctor, she knows them from the hospital.I cooked a 3 gallon pot of sauce and it was gone by 10pm last night. I was hoping for left overs for today...but I did buy enough stuff to make a chef salad so that is what we are having tonight. Then I am going to bake sweet and sour melt in your mouth pork chops with pineapple rings the next night....they love my cooking...I have seceret things that I don't let them know what I put in to make everything taste out of this world. I'm craving salmon so I am fixen to head to the store as soon as the rain slows down. Now, about the blood thinners, I take a very large asprin every day for my heart and I still don't understand him taking me off of the cumindin. I'm baffled and really think I need a 2nd opinion. Shannon, baby girl, if you can take the patches, by all means use them if it helps you. I just can't take the chance of using them and then getting cut off like I did last year by the same doc that I'm fixen to go see. Just because I had to have my port removed (because of a bacteria infection for two months that caused me to nearly die twice before they figured out what was wrong with me, losing 78lbs in those 2 months, and 6 stays in the hospital,some a few days to some a week or so, and being accused of being out of my meds that I had to throw in their face to show them) he could not give me the shots in my back so he cut me off of my meds. All of them at the same time. And I can't take the cance of going through the withdrawals again. That, along with the pain, was hell in itself. So I can't wear the patch as much as it did help. when I was going through the bacteria infection, I would run 104.9 temp and it would cause all of the med in the patch to acctivate at once and it's a wonder I lived through that. Well, it quit raining so I'm going to run to the store.See everyone later and hope everyone is doing better today. I know everyone hates the ole saying "one day at a time, but to me it one minute at a time" Stay strong and do what you have to do, It's your body and you are the one that knows what you need to get things done. i broke down tonight and put my last patch on early. It was due to go on at 10am i put it on at 1am. i couldn't stand it any longer. My leg hurt so bad that i couldn't sit still, it was jut like before the patches. Not sure what i'm gonna do when this one runs out. Guess i'll be calling my doc or going to the ER. This is absolutely rediculous. I was trying to be understanding of my doc situation, but I'm getting less and less understanding. This is just crazy.

NN, Shannon was being sarcastic. I thought it was pretty funny ( you rant well, Shannon ).

She makes good points. Take care of your health first. But sometimes when you are busy doing it for special loved people like family, you can forget the f***ing pain for a minute or two.

NANNY, how old is the "but you make it so gud" mommy! I'm mad at her already. She better be in GRADE school! Kids are so lazy! What the... Blood clots and with your pain.. Was the proper dose of fentynal that bad? I am bed ridden without it. I'm taking it as long as I need it and I can get it prescribed. I just looked at an MRI from Jan 4th and I had fluid going up my spine abd into my brain then. Did ANY of my 3 Doctors even look at it??? Geeze, It looks like I'm not the only one with Freaking water on the brain! I'm taking the aspirin too. I feel like random strangers or an elite few are nicer and more caring than all those people we have called friends and Family? I haven't gone anywhere for 2? Months and no friends come over unless I scream at them too. As for that Spag :-p mail me some frozen sauce. I can't even stand and do dishes for more than 3-5 min without hurting. My favorite is putting the leftovers on toast and broil cheese on top for breakfast. It really is better the next day. Hope your all sleeping well by now.

Babe, I want you to take a regular aspirin (325mg) twice a day for those blood clots. Aspirin will not let your platelets clump. This is what starts clots. Also it is just good practice for everyone our age to take an aspirin a day.

Hey all, I was so messed up in my back when I got up I could not even sit straight. I had to prop up in bed and be waited on. I refuse to go through another week like this past week. I don't know what the laws are about the shots in your back, but the shots that this doctor gives me goes in a hole in the bone about one inch above my anus and the needle is about 14-16 inches long. I can't think of what they call it, something called (caudle) or something. But they said they were allowed to be injected more. I don't know and I wish I did. I really don't want to do this but even the doctor that gives me my suboxone said I needed something stronger with all that is wrong with me. Oh yeah, my heart doctor took me off of my coumadin. Eh, I just had a blood clot under my arm next to my heart about 3 months ago,,,,OK....what is up with him doing that??? I thought I was suppose to stay on that with the history of all the blood clots I have had in my lungs and other places...It is starting to turn cold now and this hurts my bones and joints so bad that I guess I have to go with the shots every month. I just can't make my mind up on this and it's just around the corner when I have to go...Now, how is everyone doing this morning?? Angel it ts 10:30 am now at my house, is it ok to give you a call at this time? I don't know the time difference from Alabama to where you are at...My daughter wants me to go cook her some spaghetti and meat sauce, they think I am the only one that can make it the best...lol...but I sure don't feel like standing even that long. Hope everyone is ok today. Stay strong and if you are going through withdrawal and it is getting bad, get something to help you through it cause that is hell in itself, other than the pain that your going through...love and kisses to all. Know that I am praying for everyone that the days will not be long that you have to go through all this crap....

Ya, I think it's that and metonine and opposite effect is mentioned. That's happened to me with Tylenol pm and the next day is a b**** on that with no sleep. Definitely don't go to the docs like that lol

Melatonin is ok for sleep...not addictive...just don't take too much. It will backfire and cause insomnia. Usually they say 1-3mg to sleep any more will keep you awake. I have Halcion but I try not to take it since I have to get up and go pick up the boys from school. Getting home at 9-10am then having to have them picked up by 4 or 5 is just not long enough to get it out of my system to drive.

Ha Ha, told you Angel, happened to me too! Good luck retyping it all if you can conjure up the strength again. We can wait til day 2 of 3. That's my best, sane day of the 3-4. I'll take 1 1/2 good days on than no good days off. BTW a good replacement sleeping aid to ambian is some euro natural "night rest" Stuff i got on amazon or eBay for $8 for 30 or 60 and says just take one. Says an hour before but takes 2-3 hrs to wk and then your OUT! Not addictive and not groggy WHEN u wake. No am job no prob
