Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 34)

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

I forgot to mention that to the person with the adhesive allergy, my doctor told me that they have Loly pops that may work for you. But according to him they get you supper zonked. Probably not what you want every day for relief but if the pain is as severe as mine can get it might do the trick. I would love to try it once just to see but I can file that under "N" meaning never gonna happen. I wish you luck and the best weekend under these circumstances.
Most Sincerely;
Shannon

Hi guys, to the new one, I did the exact same thing. Every 3 days is to me 2 nights. Not the case I found out too the hard wAy. I still mess up sometimes. Angel, I wanted to call you the other night but it was really late 10:30 in Ca I may call. I went to happy hour last night the first time out since late July. There was a really nice older couple sitting near my friend and I and the sun from the wharf was glaring me in my eyes and I moved my chair just a bit and the husband said be careful and I thank Gid for that gentle reminder. I have to be soooo careful. One wrong move and I'm out. Why is everyone being so mean with us on pain medecine. Who ever is in charge must have never experienced anything close to what we feel and the injurys and illness we have all to well documented. Pics n all. This is so scary. I really wish ppl didn't have to experience first hand to have a clue as how difficult it is to breath Somedays.

Hi all for those that wear the patch more than the company directions say the doctor has to make sure he writes out the script correctly ,, the pharmacy will not give.. You also cervical could have gone to another pharmacy and had the pharmacy call the doctor. Here in ny we have many different pharmacies so maybe I just am spoiled

Larry, I think all of us are different in the way our body reacts to fentanyl, I guess I was lucky, took me two full months to withdraw from fentanyl by myself after being on the drug for over 9 years straight after after spinal fusion and having nerve damage from waiting so long for the operation,,I was on it every other day,, I went longer in between changing the patches once I decided I still was in pain so why be on the drug,I did not have any shakes with my body,, I did have lots of chills and sweats which after taking this herbal pills called Relaxx concentrate which my acupuncture Dr. Informed e to take.. He is thrilled I am not on fentanyl now

im 20 years old and i have chronic lymes disease along with cervical distonia. i was given a script to start 50mg fentynal patches by my dr and was told to keep using them until my pain could be controlled (meaning towards the end of limes treatment). i have an adhesive allergy so my dr told me to change the patch every two days and to discard any old ones. so i complied. after i finished the pack of five patches i went to the pharmacy to get more (my dr gives me a script every two weeks to get a new pack) and the pharmacy wouldn't let me refill it due to being 4 days early on the refill. the box says change every 3 days but i was instructed to change it every 2 days. needless to say there was no way around it due to the crack down on narcotics. I've never been one to abuse the pain medication i am prescribed and actually prefer to try other methods of pain control before resulting to narcotics. once the pharmacy told me they wouldn't fill it for 4 days i went home thinking thats fine i can make it through 4 days by using advil or tylenol depending on the pain and i also had percecet in case of more severe pain (usually experienced more pain around night time). for the first night in 3 weeks i am patchless and had the most bizzar feelings ever. first i had insomnia, couldn't sleep no matter how hard i tried, my hands (especially the right) felt pain full and felt as if they needed pressure put on them, and as if i couldn't get them into a comfortable position. the sweating and shaking came later. by 5am i had some of the worst feelings I've ever had. i was miserable to say the least. i want to tell anyone who starts the patches be careful and even if your not abusing it but following a drs rules make sure the pharmacy you go to knows your condition and will work with you. once i finally got the patches filled the symptoms slowly subsided. but i want to know if any one had with drawl symptoms that affected the hands as much as they did mine??? if so do you know why it focused on the hands?

Welllllllll,
I went back through this whole blog!!

It started in 2006.

But we have made it active again with about 33% of the postings.

NuttyNanna and Shannon have been on here, I think, since February.
Is that about right, Ladies?
Long, long time with lots of great advice.
You all rock.

TO ALL,
Let's start by stating this fact:

IT IS MY OPINION THAT IF YOU ARE IN CHRONIC PAIN
YOU HAVE THE NEED
THE RIGHT
AND MY PERMISSION
AND GODS
TO
GET
RELIEF!

The Bill of Rights gives us the right to " life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. "
People in chronic pain have no life, can not move, and can not pursue happiness. PAIN is their existence.

God says he does NOT want us to suffer or fear.

My husband is mad. He wants to know why I screwed up my meds when I was PAIN FREE.

Now I hurt.

So I went back to 75mcq/hr.

Am I wrong?
Tell me.
Will I die sooner?
Tell me.
What is wrong with staying here?
Tell me.

I so love every one of you.
We are bonded now.
I'm going back to see how long it's been.

Hugs,
Angel
PS I am working to get Obama reelected.
PPS I will still look into that Foundation after Nov 6th

Get ready for what can be a long hard road. I weaned down from 75 mcg over 3 months, 2 months later now and withdrawals are as severe as day one. Really wish I had been informed about this before I started them. Still looking for answers. Hope ya all do better than I.

Hi all , I actually totally understand how we all feel in chronic pain daily without it every going away. With the prescriptions my dr was in manhattan and I being in the subburbs was not convident to see him monthly, after he agreed end he would send me three individual scripts post dated so I would be able to at least get the meds on time.. I also used the same pharmacy every month and made sure they had the fentanyl there so would not have to first order it..just a suggestion..

Hey everyone, just a quick note to let you know that I'm still alive. I have been having so much trouble with family members being sick and who do you think they depend on for the help they need???? ME...I am fixen to be on my way to Bham Al. to UAB Hospital to admit my brother (63 years old) that I call a closet addict (one who says they have no problems but takes all their meds in a weeks time and then suffers). He is in really bad shape. Took 30 lortab 10s in one night and fell 3 times and hurt hisself badly. I have adjusted his meds to where he is down to 12 in a 24 hour period along with other meds, muscle relaxers and nerve meds. He is better med and pain wise but otherwise is in bad shape. I can't believe he called on me after the hell he gave me all my life for taking things for pain. But, I do love him and will help as much as I know how. Everyone is happy that I knew how to adjust his meds so he don't take so much, but it's all in keeping the pain level on a even level and meds on and even level that does the job. Been there, done that so many times I guess I'm an expert in their eyes. I'm sorry I missed your Birthday, Angel, but Happy Belated Birthday. Hope you had a good one. I will be down in Bham for a couple of days until I get him settled down and get something going for him. Then I will have to come home and get something going for myself. I am in so much pain and dread the ride and the sitting at the hospital but I'm going to be there for them. As I would for anyone I can help. Love all ya'll......Pray for me that I will not be in so much pain. (May get a bed next to him if I have to...lol) that's not funny, really thinking about it....hugs and kisses to ya'll. I have my daughters Andriod, so I hope I can get on when I get there and address some problems that I think you all may help me with.....Oh, I have missed ya'll so much......

Dearest Chelle, Lilred4, Shannon and MOMMA,
MOMMA what you wrote, well, I bet all of us here feel EXACTLY THE SAME sometimes!!!!

I try not to think of it as " begging" for my meds but d&#m if every other month there isn't some screw up. Either the pharmacy tech can't find the script I personally handed to her last month, the RN forgot to send it ("I am so sorry, Hon. I don't know how that happened to you again. "), the doctor is in another country and we are waiting for his return (WTF) or it was lost in the mail. Once I had an emergency appendectomy. Well, now.....it states in a contract I signed over 10 years ago that I have to call within 72 hours of receiving any drugs from another doctor or my contract is broken. For 7 days I was sick as a dog. Who remembers these things then. But what hot water I had been dropped into you would not believe, ladies! I had to cry and beg. For what???!!!

I hear you, Momma!

It is not right.

Maybe I should start a Foundation for the rights of those in chronic pain?
Let me research that.
I'll get back to you all.

Hugs,
Angel

I honestly believe that the omega XL is working. I've been taking 4 a day for 3 weeks. Btw I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you with the "hang in there". I'm still up in CA.

Angel i'm so sorry that you hate those words. i have been in chronic pain everyday since my accident on March 10, 03. Somestime 'Hang in there' is all i have, whether it be for one more second, one more minute, another hour, or a day. i have to have that faith that i can get through this or i would just give up. Giving up is not an option for me. i have 2 teenage boys at home to support an carefore, and 3 step-teenage children to care for also (twin girls and a boy). My husband is very helpful and he works, but my income has always been our main income. i'm a nurse....i have to be able to work. My condition has already taken my dream job away from me (the reason i got into nursing). i used to be a Labor and Delivery nurse...that's where i got hurt. i won't ever be able to do that again (too much lifting, walking). Now i do home health and care for sick babies.....pay isn't as good which means i have to work more hours. One day i keep hoping they will find a cure for our chronic pain. That's what keep me going. Then we can say....'This too shall pass!'

Hugs,
'chelle

Momma? I not only understand you, I AM you. I'm a chicken too. Pain does that. We don't know what we will do at that point. We are just ok and so so right now so noway. But... I actually have tried to see if I could put a needle in my vein ( I'm scared of them) I've tried out a knot ( it scared me cause I was just testing and couldn't get it back off ) lol STAY off anti depressants, I went back on them around Xmas to see if it would have the opposite effect and make me stronger to pull it off, Yup! It Was starting to work and since it was just a test for real, I started weaning immediately after 3? Months. We CAN but shouldn't! Unlike you, I hate my life. I'm in pain and sick and tired of being sick and tired. I have no "family" left as I was adopted and lots have passed. But i can't stop, I might miss something really awsome. I laugh everytime someone says hang in there in here. Bad words for ppl like us with, illness, injuries and diseases that may be permanent. I know my odds are not good. I just wanna go fast out because time hasn't actually flown in this life.

Sweet Dreams and Good Thoughts for you all!

Shannon
