Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 28)

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

Hey Skeet65!! I started first just losing weight and since I had breast cancer and malignant melanoma several times since 2000 the doctors wanted to do a scan on my stomach to see if it had spead. Well, then I started to run 104.9% temp all the time and was admitted to the hospital 9 times with alot of nasea and hurting everywhere. They kept telling me I was catching the flu over and over. But when the results of the scan came back it showed that my spleen was enlarged. So, I had to have blood work done. I have lost so much weight and now my blood pressure is staying real high (which scares the crap out of me). I don't want to stroke out but as sick as I have been, the docs said that I have to be really careful with my heart and with my pressure. But that's all I can tell you right now. I have to be at the doctor monday and tuesday so I will let you know then. Good luck with your test and hope that its not any kind of cancer. I have found out later in life that the pleasures I partaked on in my younger life has caused considerable damage to my body parts. Wish I had known.......

Et an skeet, I've got the crock pot an butter but no mix. I live in ca so it pretty much grows wild in everyone's backyard here. Atty's, doctors, finance advisors (duh) I'd hate to have their Job right now. So anyways if you can make it to Santa Cruz well eat brOwnies until we feel human for a min. Then the aftermath feeling like zombies for days lol. It will be a nice break from the storm.

Hey Shannon and Nuttynanny:)
It is too bad that I am not in CA with u guys...no, I am in AR.: P..yeppers, where it is not in our backyards...and better not be, but It is a shame, for it did work that one time..IT made me forget @ how bad the pain was. IF that is however possible to do, but it would be a good way to not live with the pain.:))
U guys might have to put up with me here, for a little while, until I make up my mind on what to do. The Docs are going to try and figure out what this stuff is that has me..but I know, we compare because I can tell by just reading ur comments...we are really a lot alike, in a lot of ways.:)
I really feel so much pain in my body and know, that u guys do too. IT is a horrible thing that we experience, but it will be alright..one way or the other.
I can't wait until Mon..BUT, then again...I am afraid.

I went to Mayo they want me off of the Fentanyl patch.I have been on them for 8yrs now form the 100-25 but,I have worked myself down to 50 in the last 2 yrs after having 16 surgeries.My things is i cut my 50 in half i think its ok they dont make them they they used to does anyone else do that?

Hi Fathead, yes Ive been on 100 mg for 9 mOnths. I've been cutting mine too. My dr and pharmacist have argued many times about not doing it as it makes my pain spiral out of control at times. But that is due to my pain, not cutting the patch. Then I probably shouldn't share this an is far from recommend but I stopped a month ago putting them on and would just chew the tiniest piece after excercising or a walk that left me unable to walk. If it is more than a sliver someone could really get hurt or die, definitely not reccomendded. But I'm almost all better now. At least I can feel my back pain an nerve pain more than the aches. I'm hoping the percacet here an there will do the trick from now on. Good Luck, I know after 8 Years is gong to be REALLY hard. Get a live in massuse for a good month because that's ALL I wanted for the first week? This must be what heroine withdrawal feel like?

Good morning everyone....(if you can say that). Hey Fathead and Shannon, and Minstrel, I just read your post and gotta say, Wow. A thou a month, I would just have to live with the pain. I draw about half that much....lol. But, on the other hand, it is gonna be kinda rough on you and it will be very painful. But, again it will be better than the pain you have been through. Hope the best for you and may your road be very smooth. I can't cut my patches because I have the ones that have the gel in them and I will get all the Fentanyl in one dose and may kill myself (unknowingly) and I still have some living I want to do even if I'm in pain. Don't get me wrong, some of the patches you can cut, and I would be very careful doing that (we don't want to lose you, we just met....lol). Just be careful!!!!!! Please let us know how you are getting along and what you are feeling. Shannon, I don't think it hurts to chew up just a small portion of the patch, It will come on faster, you be careful also. I don't want to lose you either...lol. I know a friend that chews a whole 75mcg patch at one time, but had to go to the hospital a couple of times (stupid, looks like he would have learned the first time). Now that is a true addict...lol. I'm trying to get him help. Nutty lol Ty what a nice way to wake up. I miss laughing an feeling happy, healthy and terrific. Ready for the extremely scary truth? I'm past the patch withdrawal but not the pain. I weened myself off all by my self from 100's. In one month. I told my doc I was feeling high an jittery so it's time to lower the dose. SO, I get 75's to start the weening down proces. I get them on a week. I already know I'm ready for a good 3-4 mile hike or walk on the beach. But after ??? :( im going to want and need. I just skii'd with my last patch. Felt great but stopped after 2-3 hrs. My back is killing me. I haven't done much in a week. My wheat grass is dry, my orchids are so so an the ex monster in law is here tomorrow! Ahhhh! The inversion table really helps btw. See you all soon for our brownie an fireside babble's an SLEEP!!!!! I'll be Bach !

Ok guys, where are the blogs? Do we just ask questions an complain about our pain in the mornings? I'm going to really need my good laugh from you Nutty! I really did laugh out loud. Oh an btw, I know you all are not out baring it up. We can't drink if we wanted too Lol well I can NOW but after 9 months I'm kinda over it. I learned fast that drinking on the patch does not mix at all Lol stumbling drunk off 2 drinks and I didn't do that after 4-6 before all this! Hope to hear good news from Nutty, Et, Skeet, Mary???? I have been on the fentanyl patch for 3 years, maybe longer. At 25 mcg, I felt better but became tolerant pretty quickly. At 50mcg, the same thing happened. After a year or so of only enough relief to function until I could just fall into bed, the doc began increasing the strength of the patch. I have been at 150mcg for about a year now. It helps the pain but aim having trouble functioning as I am exhausted all of the time. I feel as though I am going through life carrying a heavy wet blanket over me that I can barely lift. The medication/ illness? Is affecting my work, friendships, and family life. I recently decided to get off of the patch. A week and a half ago I dropped to 125 mcg. Four days ago, I dropped to 100 mcg. I have been having stomach, feet, legs, and hand cramps. Are those symptoms withdrawal or am I having low potassium? How fast is too fast to wean off of this wicked medication? My doctor suggested I try neurontin for pain and to gradual wean off of fentanyl. The pain is better, and my head is clearer, but tithe abdominal pain and muscle cramps are terrible. Is there anything I can do naturally that will help me get off of the fentanyl? It was good for me for awhile but I really just want it out of my system entirely. Any pointers for stopping fentanyl? The doc said it would take months and months and maybe longer. I want to stop now. Anyway, thanks for the help. Also is it dangerous to wean myself off of the fentanyl and ambien while I am taking neurotin?

Really .pot .its not a joke .I'm in the same situation.its a big help.make browies or cookies with it .research how much to use at a time.if you live in a legal marijuana state ask the Dr.I helps so much more than starting a new type of pill each month .hope it all works out for you truly I do .I have arthritis really bad and it helped

My husband has been on The fentanyl 100 for 6 years. he is wanting to come off of it. The pain management says no way. He also takes neurontin 400 in the morn 400 in the even. and 400 at night. He really would like to get off, but no one seems to know what to tell him.

Hi Etieanne ibam 32 days fentynal free now but still getting withdrawal mainly a fuzzyness in my head. Im still weak and find it difficult to do anything. But i agree with you the charges are sutle and slow and iknow i am better bit by bit. Its weird. My pain is settliing although im still taking solpidol and bruffen. Evenings are the worse but nothing like it was when first stopped the patch i was screaming in pain needed oramorph non of that now thank god. I am glad i went cold turkey however its not for everyone, or the faint hearted its b...dy hard i had no choice because of the azathiprine. Good luck to anyone who tries but b careful

Hey everyone...I don't know what is going on, I put in several blogs and they didn't go through. I'm going to try one more time and see if this goes through. Well I am doing a lot better and I went to the doctor Monday and today, and still don't have any news. Don't them doctors know that waiting is some more serious to some people. I can't stand to have to wait. Esp. when you are waiting on the results of a cancer test. Maybe no news is good news. How is everyone doing???? Sharron, Minstral, Etienne and skeet...you too fathead, how are ya'll doing????? I am going to come off the Suboxone now and start taking Lortab cause I can take nerve pills with Lortab and you can't with the Suboxone. Wish me luck. Wish they would let me have some of them brownies!!!!!.......LOL. I have felt so good the last few days but I'm having bad headaches now and they say that is a symptom of the Suboxone and it never lets up. I think I'm allergic to it. But, I can take Lortabs or leave them. They have never made me sick when I run out early so I think I will be ok with just taking that. I took them for a couple of years and never went through withdrawals like this crap....Well I haven't slept but a couple hours every night since last Friday, I was out of my ambein and I got mine today so I'm going to crash for about 8 hours...see ya'll later....Love and kisses....

Hey everyone, I see they put my post up. I haven't been able to write too much because I tripped over my wires to my keyboard and broke it but thank God for I had a keyboard left over from the dell computer I used to have. That was the only thing that dell is good for , spare parts,....LOL. RED, if your husband was on the patch for 6 years then he needs to come off them slowly. Its going to be rough but he will be better off coming off slowly than to cold turkey them. They are wicked...If his doctor won't help him with other meds that can help then do some research and find a doctor that will help. That's what I had to do and was so thankful that there is some caring doctors out there that will help. I still am coming off the patches and my back is hurting so bad that I am crying. It feels like someone kicked me in part of my back and the other parts are burning and also feels like a knife sticking in between the shoulder blades. I have never hurt so bad in my life. I hope that is just that I'm coming off the patches and it will let up soon. If not then I'm one of the ones that will have to take something for the rest of my life (what little life I have left), but not the strong meds that I was on. I just want a little Lortab like I use to take that will inprove my lifestyle and let me be able to do things with my family. I have missed doing things with them and this is going to change. Family is where it's at.....if you know what I mean!!!!! Anyway I hope everyone is doing good and if there is anything I can help with let me know. I will do what I can. NO ONE should have to suffer with going through withdrawals from the meds that the doctor has given them, Period.....Love and kisses to everyone......

I went off the 100 mg for a few weeks and was brutal. I'm now on 75 an working out, walking, and getting lots done again :( I feel guilty but feel great again! The house is clean, I'm excercising, active and feeling healthy and pain free. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing but for right now I'd rather feel healthy again. Brownie party again soon, but I'm not ready as if yet. Maybe in a few months. Hope you all are doing well an feeling better, pain free and most of all healthy as possible under the circumstances. Jaded, you are 1000% correct. I am not a fan, HOWEVER it works like a charm coming off this crap! People!!! Listen to Jaded! If you can't smoke? Eat it! You may not like the "high" but it will get you over the hump, well it's not a hump. I don't even know how long it takes to get off this stuff. I was almost 2 weeks but my pain was to bad and I think I jumped the gun. But the 10? Days I quit the stuff I still had withdrawal symptoms. If anyone knows how many days it takes to be withdrawal free I'd appreciate knowing so I know how many brownies to bake. Lol

Hi everyone.
I don't know what happened. I couldn't get in for a lo g long time. I thought it was the fyntenal ghost haunting me:)
I hole everyone is doing as good as can be expected. I'm 2 months patch free and it's nice to have a clear head again but my pain is back 100%. The doctors want to do surgery #5 on me. I think I'll pass and try holistic. It's with a shot.
Nice to see my buddies are still here. :)

I had too many problems while I was on it. I was a zombie and I slept all day and constipated and cranky and my joints hurt.
As much as I HATE pain I'll take my chances with something with less side effects. It may be foe some people but not for me.
