Still being in pain is normal. No one who is taking opioids, will ever be completely out of pain at ALL times. The idea is to be at a pain level you can live with, and function. NOT "out of pain."
Good idea to keep an eye on your husband's breathing
You are so right. These meds are to make life more functional. When people look to be pain free they end up being narcotic abusers. CAREFUL IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME !!!
How is he doing now?
The sleepiness is normal, especially with the Fentanyl, since it is a very, very potent narcotic.

Combining it with the other medications can cause some depression of the central nervous system, which is likely contributing to his feeling drowsy.
What you should know to keep an eye out for are any danger signs, such as his passing out, shallow breathing, his not wanting to wake up and severe vomiting.
These types of medications are frequently prescribed together and the doctors should have carefully considered the dosage, as well as his tolerance to them, his weight, overall health and etc.
But, your concern is valid and you should always keep yourself informed, so you know what to watch for, just in case.
I am not a Dr. That said, it would be helpful to know what dosage strength of FTD your Husband took. I don't think you have anything to be worried about. These are small doses and he prob. needs the rest. I can't say more tip I know the Dosage strength of the Fentanyl. . . . QEMSOZ
ty his fentanyl is 50mg and his about 180 pd so far no passing but he does have copd so I am watching him carefully. I would like to know if the sleepiness wears off he only took 1 patch so far. tonight will be his 2nd patch of 50 mg. surprising he still has pain.
Your husbands fentanyl takes at least 24hrs to reach
Maximum strength in the body. Did u say he put a 50mcg patch on and u are putting another one on. Its lasts for at least 48hrs and r scribed to last 72hrs. I would call drs or pharmacy to make sure. That's a huge dose if he is opiod naive.
What size of fentanyl patch? That is important to know to be able to give you correct suggestions concerning your question. I wouldn't worry about it, especially since he's only taking two 10mg percocets a day. I'm not sure about the lyrica though.
my fiance died from a fentinyl overdose. it was 12/08/2008. that is a very strong and dangerous drug and easy to die from especially if he is suicidal which Andy Propes was.. get him off of that s*** or it can happen to you... the only thing i was told was that it was his choice to use it and there was nothing my daughter or i could do other then get thru his death... all these years later and we are still not over it.
