Fentanyl Patches Advice For Withdrawal

My husband ran out of his 50 mcg Fentanyl Patches on Monday. Today is Friday 12/11/09 and he is experiencing withdrawals. The patches are supposed to be available today (it's 3 a.m. here). Is there ANYTHING that can help him until he receives his RX? He has the chills, sneezing, stomach cramps, moaning, restlessness, etc. Please help ...

Debbie....please never cut the patches, the consequences can be fatal.

When I go away my Dr releases a prescription for the amount I will need for the duration of the trip. We always add a few days in case of flight delays.

I live in Canada and my prescription can only be filled every 30 days so I normally have enough for only that time.

I totally understand and agree with the necessary control of narcotics but it can be awkward.

We decided last minute we wanted to go away for four days leaving on Friday . My patches were not to be released until the Saturday, we could not get a hold of my Dr to release them early, so we could not go away.

Thanks for the reply. My hubby has the patches now. He ran out because we were out of state for 2 months and it's a pain in the a** to get them. We've just decided to go away for 1 month at a time to avoid problems. Sucks, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I have been on the patches for a wile now and the best he could do for the time being is to take the last patch he was wearing and cut a hole in the corner and push out a pea sized drop of the gel and {edited for safety reasons} just to be carefully only use a little amout to start with and give in about 15 mins and I promise he will feel tons better. Im not a doctor so im just tryin to help tell he can get a refill.
