False Positive For 6-acetylmorphine

I'm prescribed a high amount of morphine ER and morphine IR. I also take quetiapine ER. I need to know if this can cause a false positive for 6-Acetylmorphine in a urine toxicology test? I've read that high doses of morphine can cause this and also the combination of my quetiapine ER.

Yes. Studies have been done to prove that 6-aceylmorphine can be produced inside the human body for patients prescribed morphine. See the following link for the study. Doctors should remember that tests can also simply be wrong; whether that's because the test sample is contaminated, or the medications contaminated. They've also found 6-acetylmorphine as a pharmaceutical contaminant. I would post the link I've found pertaining to that study, but the page is no longer live.
