False Positive On Drug Test From Metronidazole (Top voted first)

I need to know if metronidazole will cause a false postive on a drug test hair and urine. Please advise me as soon as you can.

Yes it will...today I falsely tested positive for PCP

Yes it will show up as a false positive I know this because it just happend to me. This made me so mad

Hi aaron,

I wasn't able to locate any specific details on this, but from what I could gather, 'askdocweb' mentions that, "Metronidazole can cause interference on EMIT assays that invalidates results."

I've been trying to figure out what exactly this means, but you can see where I referenced it from here:

NOTE: Just scroll down to 'Metronidazole', as the drug list is in alphabetical order.

Other than this, I haven't heard or read any statements involving this medication and false positives.
