Fake Percocet 10 325 Death Toll Rising In Georgia, Elsewhere (Top voted first)
UpdatedI'm seeing it all over the news and elsewhere on this site but it looks like fake yellow tablets with PERCOCET and 10/325 inscribed on them are becoming more common. Sadly on Wednesday news outlets have reported deaths from bad tablets circulating in Georgia. Everyone is urged to be extremely careful and of course, ensure that prescriptions are being filled through licensed pharmacies. And this goes without saying, but anyone who obtains tablets matching the above description from unscrupulous individuals are taking a big risk to their health and possibly life.
"In recent days, the drugs ... have led to dozens of overdoses and as many as four deaths in south and central Georgia" [1] - one main problem is that it has become more commonplace for pill presses to be easily obtained. This allows individuals to basically formulate their own cocktail of dangerous drugs, but then make tablets with colors and inscriptions that match known and legitimate prescription drugs (most commonly pain killers and benzodiazepenes). And if someone searches the imprint found on such tablets, they will usually find a matching drug, so they falsely assume that the tablets which they got are in fact that specific drug. This of course does not apply to tablets dispensed from a licensed pharmacy.
From what I've read in other discussions, counterfeit prescription pain killers are commonly cut with other dangerous opioids such as Fentanyl (which is 50-100 times stronger than Morphine), or even Heroin. In the case of the overdoses in Georgia, the authorities are still trying to determine exactly what substance is in those tablets responsible for hurting those affected. My guess is that they may find one of the drugs I just mentioned above as an ingredient. If anyone comes across news updates on exactly what they end up finding, please share it here! Usually the victims are found unresponsive or unconscious, their breathing being affected. Sadly, it was further noted that "[United States] Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said drug overdoses are the leading cause of death for Americans under age 50" [2]
As to the specific tablets circulating, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation noted that the word PERCOCET is "not stamped as deep as the manufacturer typically does on their pills and is at an angle". Below is an example of a legitimate yellow PERCOCET 10/325 from ENDO Pharmaceuticals, NDC 63481-629 (there are also other labelers of these same tablets such as Stat Rx):
I hope this alert has helped some, and stay safe & healthy everyone!

Did the educated people behind all this bull crap not think. People who hurt need relief, I've been guinea pigged since all this with a huge cut down on what works and a enormous amount of stuff that doesn't. It's gonna be on the rise until it kills more people than what got this whole thing started. You put people in positions with the idea that they're intelligent and can make intelligent decisions. Boy, were we ever wrong. They are the bully at the playground. It's my way and if you don't like my way then you don't play. We are the kids being picked on. You all know how the story goes. One day the bully is gonna kid punched in the nose.
Doctors are taking a 180. I can't believe that people are preferring to go to the streets and also they know the risks. Government needs to realize how much they are hurting the person who is really having legit pain. Our government needs to fix the mess that they have caused. Addicts won't really get the message. So let's attack the chronic long term pain patients. That should satisfy all the lobbyists. All this has done is labeled any chronic pain person now as an addict. This is by no way helping, addicts will always find drugs on the streets. People who are taking strong pain meds is and was a miracle to give a lot of people the quality of their lives. But because doctors are pretty stupid and cannot figure out if the patient continually comes in with such huge lies about how they lost their meds, the dog ate them. Etc... When you have been a patient with your doctor for over 10 or 15 years and he or she doesn't pay attention.. Then I believe doctors are more at fault than the addicts. Anyone who is not using to sell have now been tied in with the addicts. Because either laziness or greed or frightened. So let's just not help anyone.. This has to change or so much worse things will happen. I could honestly write a book. So thank you for creating this site. God BLESS YOU ALL.
Yep you could not have said better! The medical doctors are such hypocrites. They judge patients in america, "Their clients". We are not on the streets finding fake drug dealers!!! We go to our doctors and are treated like (drug addicts) crap, while they get rich using the s*** out of our insurance and to heck with our long time chronic pain which does help give us back a better quality of life as opposed to just suffering without adequate pain medication. Except for the patients they deem worthy of pain prescriptions in the upscale arena, which is discrimination all damn day long! These deaths are unfortunate and unnecessary. Doctors, fda and medical insurance companies need to do their jobs instead of worrying about how lavish their practices look and how fat their bank accounts are at the expense of everyday american people who they use their insurance card in so doing!
Like I said: the ultimate hypocrite! And the point was made excellent--that they are just as at fault for their deaths as these 'drop dead pills'. They are 'so desperate' to go out and use because the government has the nerve to tell its american patients 'we are all liars' because they with all their education cannot tell who is a junkie and need help from proper resources that should be available to those who need them and willing to take advantage of them as opposed to bonafide patients who does not have time for (doctor torment) and tell lies about serious pain they are in just to abuse meds is insulting! And to heck with the hypocritical goats and get back to true medicine of the hypocratic oath sworn to uphold for every medical practice in this country... With a little compassion would not hurt! Like the way you would want to be treated as a human being with dignity! God bless those poor desperate souls and may their families find solace and peace that they were loving human beings with meaning and beauty the way we are all made!
I have read, and felt that if you want to move a product, make the product illegal. I have not used any of the drugs, but i know the ways of us humans. Wow! if the government makes it illegal than it must be good stuff. They don't think of finding out why the drugs are illegal.
