CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO KEEP THE PATCH FROM COMING OFF AFTER SECOND DAY ? I SHOWER A COUPLE TIMES A DAY AND ON THE SECOND DAY THE PATCH WON'T STAY ON.THEN YOU USE MORE THAN WHAT IS PERSCRIBED AND YOU RUN OUT OF PATCHES AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T PAY FOR ANY MORE THAN PERSCRIBED, THEN COMES WITHDRAWAL?

Yes, you are right about people and different skin lotions etc. My problem with the patch was my sweating, I sweat allot when I’m on chemo and the patch and any adhesive did not stick to my skin, lately I haven’t been sweating as bad probably because I’m on chemo now every 3 weeks instead of every two weeks, there was nothing I could do when my patch did not stick, I sweat from the inside so I just hoped it would not fall off, thank you for posting, allot of people think it’s not sticking to them because the shower or bath, but in my case, showering had nothing to do with it not sticking, it was like you said, our body fluids are different then some other people,

Fentyl
My insurance won't cover every two days and I really need it two days. They don't work as well as they usedt
Re: jb (# 8)
You can use Nexcare tegaderm patches they help but I recently went off fetynal for the same reason. If you use the tegaderm sometimes if your in the heat it will start to peel but if you change patch every two days for example your going to have to hurry up and get your shower over with then put the patch on. You shower two times a day well that’s going to jeopardize the medicine. You have to decide to either cut down the showers and stay inside during summer or do what I did. Go off the patch for summer months and take oral medicine which for me Im in pain. I have kids so I have to be able to swim. Be in the heat and sunbathe those are the things people like to do. Anyway sorry for my lack of punctuation lol. I’m in pain and I seen this and wanted to tell you. Try the Tegaderm put it on carefully and hopefully it will help. If it falls off in the shower you can’t reach for another patch. You’ll be short. So yes I get where your at. I had to suffer cuz of it coming off. Good luck. Nexcare is cheaper than the real Tegaderm. Hope it helps. There’s no guarantee that’ll stick however. I know from experience.

In order to keep the patches on there's a clear plastic type cover like the hospital uses. Some insurance companies covers them. If not, they can be purchased over the counter.
Hi. I have been on the patch forever. I like Mylan patches better B/C they stick better and take up less room. Glad wrap makes a product that keeps it waterproof, it's called Press and seal. I just wrap it around patch and arm and no problems. I have very thick long hair and I use these on the nights I wash hair. Most supermarkets have it in the baggies/foil isle. This will work.
Use lighter fluid to clean skin really well before appling make sure skin is stretched well like if u put on chest raise arm as u apply if it does come off i have found paper tape will help u reapply
Re: Dawn (# 194)
I understand. It's awful worrying that the only thing that gives any real relief and quality of life will be taken away. It seems the powers that be don't understand the pain came before the medicine not the other way around.
I have no choice in taking strong narcotics such as fentanyl, but I get agitated, uncomfortable and can’t sleep. I’m one of the 12% to this happens to.
Re: den (# 7)
I use the Tegaderm HP (by 3M) in size 4”x 4 3/4” and have never had a problem. I sweat profusely in summer months and shower at least once daily. I order them by box of 50 to cut the cost to approximately $.75/Tegaderm.
Hope this helps!
Stop taking a couple showers a day simple as a dimple
the best way i found to keep the patch on was putting on my back above the shoulder blade on the trap muscle then cover it with suran wrap and use the tape hospitals use for iv and stuff i dont know its name its also found in all first aid packs use that to tape the suran wrap making an air tight seal around the patch once its on dont shower for a good 8 hrs give that tape time to hold its clear tape but looks really fogy once you see your skin like tape isnt there its sealed and water proof leave it until pain returns or withdrawls start in a perfect world they last 72 hrs in reality 60 at best if your active even less increasing body temp will cause it to release more drug good luck
What generic fentanyl 100 mcg patch does Walmart carry in Honolulu Hawaii? I'm on them and the gel patches work for me but not the matrix brand, and will Medicaid cover them from Walmart? Do they have sandbox Watson/Actavis?
Re: Dixie (# 185)
I have a really hard time believing that. Years of patch and no withdrawal!?! It wasn't too bad!?!??! Come on
Re: CHELLY Rose (# 184)
I'm sorry but I have a REALLY hard time believing that after 6-7 years of wearing a patch that you had close to no withdrawal symptoms!?!? Cold turkey and " it wasn't too bad " ????? Come on.

You need tegaderm patches to cover your fentanyl patch. They're not cheap for a person w/ a very modest income, as myself...hope this helps! Oh & I always bought mine at the pharmacy.
My pharmacy has been unable to get fentanyl patches from PAR PHARMACEUTICAL. I have found them to be most like the Duragesic brand. Is anyone else having problems?
What are the best fentanyl patches to ease pain? I'm on 100mcg. Is Mylan or Duragesic the best for 3 days?
Hello. I accidentally put on a fentanyl patch (12 mcg) 2 days ago and I've been very sick so I took them off today. How long will it take to get out of my system? And how long does fentanyl work after taking off the patch?
