CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO KEEP THE PATCH FROM COMING OFF AFTER SECOND DAY ? I SHOWER A COUPLE TIMES A DAY AND ON THE SECOND DAY THE PATCH WON'T STAY ON.THEN YOU USE MORE THAN WHAT IS PERSCRIBED AND YOU RUN OUT OF PATCHES AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T PAY FOR ANY MORE THAN PERSCRIBED, THEN COMES WITHDRAWAL?

Greg, glad you are getting off the patch, I used it for several years and it helped the pain yes, but it changed my body. I could not stand to look at myself. Have been off the patch over a year now with no opiates at all. I feel and look better and my liver is not aching anymore. For anyone out there who can possibly handle life w/o opiates it is a good thing!

My boyfriend wipes the area with lighter fluid on a paper towel and never has a problem any more he uses the area an inch below nipple towards the side he raises his arm to stretch skin then puts patch in place presses it holds full hand on it for about 2 mins hope this helps you out

Tegaderm or the generic available on Amazon. I bought a roll of stuff similar to Tegaderm and you can cut it to whatever size you need and it was very effective in helping to keep my patch on. And I take a lot of baths also.

Hi, I have the simple solution to these patches staying on..... My name is Rachelle and im a long time pain patient. My doc just cut me of of 125 mcg of Fentanyl and Im dying..... If anyone can help me out, being that I am an ex surgical nurse, and when I don't have a patch on my back is so bad I can't even walk. I'm also undergoing concurrent testing to diagnose possible MS. I fear it won't be able to bear this pain too long and can't find a doctor immediately. So if there's anybody out there that can help me in any way shape or form. I have the answer that many people dont know about to make your patch last up to 5 days without falling off and it's only a simple solution. {edited for privacy}

Hi Bull, I used the Fentanyl patch from 2008 until the middle of 2015. Yes, it was always a hassle to keep it on, and it changes your metabolic rate (especially if you are a woman over 50). I finally got so disgusted with the depression, insomnia and abdominal swelling that I just took it off (100mcg q 72 hours) and went cold turkey which for me was not too bad. All that happened to me was the pain came crushing gown on me again. If you quit this medication PLEASE be cautious and get help from your Health Care Provider. Cold Turkey is NOT for just anyone. Fentanyl is a WONDERFUL pain relief system for many people. I hurt from time to time but deal with pain management in a much different way now. Yes, there is life after "the patch".

Yep, hey buddy ask ya local chemist about shower shields like a square peice of plastic with a sticky perimeter works great , I was havn Trouble keepn mine on for the duration as well , hope that helps mate !!! Hooroo Daniel

All you have to do is clean area where patch goes with lighter fluid then lift arm on whichever side ur going to apply patch stretching skin it work my boyfriend does this and patch never comes off

I lost 3 fentanyl patches that fell off in my sleep/shower. I'm gonna be 6 days short now. My Dr. will not replace the messed up ones. Can i make the one last 6 days? In the last 2 months my pain meds have been cut by 2/3, and I am in so much pain. My Dr. says it's in my head! I wish he had to walk a day in my shoes. But can you make 1 patch last 6 days and how? ty

Where is the best place to put the fentanyl patch? Are the effects stronger in certain areas of the body? It's new to me and I can't tell it's working.

Yes if you go to the pharmacy and ask them for medical tape it's made by 3 a.m. And it has pores in it so it's breathable you can cover the patch and it will stay on as long as you want

Tegaderm is a clear barrier that you can use over patch. It's the stuff that they cover when they put an IV in your arm .They have on Amazon and have generic by Smith and Nephew. My patches never fall off now .

Tegaderm patch. CVS makes the best ones. They are 7.49 for 10 patches. take a dab of water and a towel. Clean area, dry, apply. Voila. all Done.

Yes I know how to keep the patches on!! Go to the pharmacy and buy Nexcare 3M waterproof transparent dressing. It's like a huge bandaid that sticks very well to your skin.

It's sad isn't it? The pain Mgmt. Docs walk around with so much power and think that since they are in good health and have no pain that everyone else is a bunch of wusses that just need to eat right and exercise and all of the pain they imagine will go away. They don't really care if it works for you because it doesn't effect them at all.

I had pain before the meds and that was why I was taking meds: My pain was controlled at the best level I can remember in so long, so I could live my life a little without being a slave to the pain. But these doctors act like it's the meds giving you the pain!!! NO it isn't!
A government worker with a high school education is now telling doctors that actually understand the topic how to prescribe and penalizing them for giving meds to anyone! I wish I could just run around all day without pain like him but in my life I can barely take out trash and make one meal a day for my teenage son who never asked to have a mom like this. I can't plan days with my grandson anymore either because the pain won't let me keep up with him.

Does Walmart carry Mallinckrodt or another brand of matrix/flat Fentanyl patch 100mcg? I get rashes from the gel pocket patches. Thanks

I have had neck and spine issues for about 5 years now. Now I have rheumatoid arthritis (found out 4 years ago) needing something for pain. They want to put me on fentanyl but I'm worried about U/A's because they check for drugs, but since I'm already going to be on them would it be such a bad thing? I need to know. Other things they had me on were Norco tens, which helped ease the pain, but C3 through C7 is collapsing in my neck, so it is hurting me very very badly. Please help.

My pharmacy has been unable to get fentanyl patches from PAR PHARMACEUTICAL. I have found them to be most like the Duragesic brand. Is anyone else having problems?

You need tegaderm patches to cover your fentanyl patch. They're not cheap for a person w/ a very modest income, as myself...hope this helps! Oh & I always bought mine at the pharmacy.
