This medication does not become dangerous once expired, but it can start to lose effectiveness over time, so it may not work as well as it did, when new. It would be best to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new prescription.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness, sedation and dry mouth.
