Expired Ear Drops

I have expired ear drops that are two months expired and I was wondering if I could still use them?

It would be best to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription, if needed.

Liquids tend to degrade and go bad much faster than other formulations, so using them once expired is just a bad idea, as reported by the NIH.

I ear drops that expire 07/2019 and only were used like once 2 years ago. Are they still safe to use even though they've been open for 2 years? The ear drops look kind of slimy.. I don't know if that's the word I'm looking for though. TIA

It seems like it would be a smart idea to dispose of it and buy a new bottle. However, there is no evidence to support that the expired ear drops are unsafe to take, or that they degrade over time.

At worst, I don't think using expired ear drops would really be unsafe, as much as it would just not work. I also believe expiry dates are used as a marketing tool to get you to buy more.
