Epitrel And It's Effectiveness For Women Over 50
(Newest replies first)

I am sixty-one years old, I have been using Epitrel since December 16, 2012 - every night. After reading several research articles, am I correct in saying that this really won't help - due to my age - with fine lines/wrinkles? The articles says that it really doesn't help women over fifty?! I'm crushed. I do see a slight difference in my skin - some discoloration is fading and some of the lines around my mouth are not as deep.
I'm crushed! Is the over fifty research correct?
Thank you: amp

Do you use it around the eye area? Under the eye and the crows feet area?
I want to know what kind of results using Epitrel acido retinoico cream do to your skin. You said WOW, so I want what it means. I bought two tubes when I went
to Mexico for vacation. Have not tried it yet.
Thanks.
Can retinol be used around the eye area--under the eye and crows feet? Or should the eye area be avoided completely? I bought Acido Retinoic cream 0.05% dosage in Mexico.
I am over 50 and still see results from using the cream. I did originally start using it in my 30s. I used it for awhile and then slacked off. I have started using it again recently and it does make my skin smoother and more youthful looking. I have very few lines or wrinkles.
I'm almost 60 and have been using the Epitrel cream for about 2 months or so. WOW....what a difference it has made in my skin! I'd recommend it to ANYONE of my friends.
RE: Epitrel's effectiveness for over-50s. IME, the older you are, the longer it takes to see results. This does make sense because your whole body slows down as you age, cell turnover included. I think that unless you're in your coffin, you will eventually see some results. Take a picture of yourself in the mirror with strong lighting; then after several months of treatment, take another picture under the same conditions. I'm way over 50 and see subtle results with infrared light combined with Tretonin .1%. It's not dramatic, just better. It's inexpensive enough to give it a try, Good luck.
Hello Anne,
From what sources did you find information stating that this won't work for women over 50? I just ran a comprehensive google search and I"m not finding any specific details relating to the information you found.
If I can recommend anything it would be to look into microdermabrasion. There is a device call the "PMD personal microderm" that is used to do microdermabrasion at home. I have considered purchasing it for my hyper-pigmentation. I have also read that it works wonders for fine lines and wrinkles. If you're interested, down below is a link to an article that talks about caring for mature skin, I hope you find it helpful. ehow.com/way_5631354_good-care-older-women-budget.html
