Eliquis Is Working Better Than I Imagined
UpdatedI was scheduled for a laminectomy because my spinal stenosis had become so painful that it was even causing horrible cramping / muscle spasms all around my lower legs and feet. I was forced to sleep sitting up with my feet on the floor or the cramping would eject me from my bed. Because I was in a seated position and not moving for many hours, I developed DVT in my left leg. I should also note that my feet and ankles were extremely swollen but this is a common side effect of Amlodipine which is a PB med. Also, even though no DVT was detected in my right leg, I was having pain in my right calf that was getting progressively worse until after three days I needed a cane to walk.
I was put on Eliquis 10 mg twice a day and within three days the swelling in my feet and ankles has completely disappeared. Also, the pain in my right leg is now completely gone and even my back feels better! I'm able to get out of a chair and walk without looking like a stooped old man for the first time in two years. Even my plantar fasciitis in my right foot is much improved. I can stand and walk much longer than before and I have no side effects. I've only been on Eliquis for a week but my question is - has anyone else had a similar experience?
I'm truly amazed! I was given Eliquis by the ER doctor so I haven't seen the vascular surgeon yet (need clearance before I can have the laminectomy). Can anyone offer any insights?

I'm glad that you are having such great results from Eliquis. It has been shown to work wonderfully for some people that take it.
Anytime you have edema in your extremities like that, it is always best to have your doctor check it out, due to the risk of your having developed a blood clot, even if you are on one, or more, medications that you think may have caused swelling.
Eliquis may cause side effects, such as headache, nausea, increased risk of bleeding, easy bruising, and dizziness.

Blood clots can cause a lot of problems in your body, including worsening pain in some areas.
When will you be seeing your vascular surgeon?
