Back to back Massiver MI's in january and February 2013. First M I...too short of a stent was used and was placed on Plavix. (Generic) 2nd MI. 3 weeks later. Another Blood clot. Coded. Longer stent placed in LAd AND PUT ON 10MG. eFFIENT. wAS TOLD i WOULD BE ON EFFIENT FOR 15 MONTHS AND THEN BAck to Plavix. 15 months came and Cardio said study was coming out and I had to remain on Effient until results of study. November, 2014. Study results showed those on effient for 30 months did better than those on for 20 months. So I am still on Effient but lowered to 5mg. 30 months is August, 2015. I want off this stuff. The side effects are devestating. What choice do i have. Has anyone been on Effient less than 30 months and on Plavix now and have had no repercussions...meaning another massive MI? I have two drug eluting stents in the LAD. I am 75 years young. Thank You.

Hello, Lenore! How are you? I'm very sorry about everything you've been through and that the medication has you feeling so horrible.

What types of side effects are you experiencing? The FDA lists the typical ones for this medication as possibly including dizziness, headache, blurred vision, nervousness, chills, cough and fever.

Really, when it comes right down to it, no one can make you take any medication that you don't want to, that is always your choice. However, to ensure the best possibly outcome for you, it would best to follow your doctor's instructions.
