Effects Of Stopping Methamphetamine

I've been prescribed methamphetamine my whole life. I am now 55 years old, 80 lbs over weight and, I want to know when my body will be drug free? I also want to know if quitting cold turkey is gonna kill me? I know a lot of people who quit and died within a year. It's kept me scared to quit.

I understand your fears, but in most cases, it isn't the quitting that kills someone, it's the damage they've done to their bodies over time from using it, it can really take a toll on your heart and liver.

Have you considered getting medical help to come off of it? That would be the best solution, to help keep you out of danger. The most risky withdrawal symptom listed by the FDA is seizures, which could occur from going cold turkey.

How is your blood pressure? Is your heart rate elevated?

Sorry, I want to clarify to ensure I'm not misunderstood…

I'm not saying that no one has ever died from quitting, sometimes withdrawals can be very dangerous.

What I meant is that if they didn't die during the initial withdrawal period, then death was most likely due to the overall damage that was caused.

My boyfriend is what I call a lifetime user of methamphetamine. He has taken it for 15 years and then some before we met, but he is passing blood through his urine that just started today and has passed blood through his rectum for years.
