Effectivity Of Nordette Contraceptive (Page 7)

Hi, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. I went to my OB last week and she told me that I was ovulating. And then my boyfriend accidentally ejaculated inside of me. After 20hrs I took the first 4 pills, and took the next 4 an hour late (because I fell asleep). Help me please? Is there a possibility I could get pregnant? Please, I'm really scared.

Hi. I'd just like to get insight on our particular situation.

LMP started Sept 30 ended Oct 3.
Deed occurred Oct 9.
*Condom was used and no ejaculation occured inside but there was a hole in the condom upon water test after*
Nordette was taken as ECP Oct 11 (50 hours after deed)
Cycle tracker forecasted ovulation at around Oct 15 (32 day cycle)
Brown discharge started Oct 18 (approximately 7 days after Nordette) and is still ongoing now (Oct 20)
*Yesterday there was red clot on the pad but this bleeding is very light but not light enough to be spotting. But it's so light it can't fill a pad on one day.*

I think what's happening now is very light withdrawal bleed. Appetite has increased but I think the increased appetite is associated with the bleeding and not with possible pregnancy because it's too early to have increased appetite due to pregnancy.

I'd just like insight regarding this and I'm trying to be as rational as I can because all my evidence points to almost being impossible to have a pregnancy.

Hi ldr19. You are having a possible withdrawal bleed with nordette.

First: you took it during the optimal time frame. Thats within 72 hrs.
Second: no ejaculation
Third: not ovulating on day 10 (deed day)

since ecps will alter your cycle, your mens time table might change a bit.
Inc appetite may be related to hormonal changes brought about by nordette.

Im more into withdrawal bleed rather than implantation bleed.

Hey thanks for the reply. I am more inclined to withdrawal as well but was concerned about the color and lightness of the flow. But I guess people are different. So I am very confused. But the condom not being broken (but with two tiny holes on the side) and no ejaculation tell me it's nearly impossible to be pregnant.

Anyway it's a waitig game.

Hi mae. Were you able to take the meds again after you vomited? Implantation bleeding can occur 3 days after implantation of the egg to the uterus. And implantation occurs 6-12 days after ovulation. I think your case does not match implantation bleed.

Hi MAE. But you took the first dose and missed the second dose because of vomiting. Your deed is near fertile day but he did not came inside you. You bled for 10 hrs 3 days after you took nordette. Well, nordette is an ecp which can alter your mens. It will make a cycle confusing even the bleeding pattern. But sometimes implantation and menstrual bleed are really hard to distinguish. Im not saying yours is implantation bleed. You had scant bleed maybe because you only had the first dose too. Honestly, all these are case to case because we all tend to react differently to the ecps. Lets wait for your next mens again. My ray of hope is that there was no deed inside you and that you took nordette first dose rather than none.

Hi, I really need help. I had unprotected sex on the 3rd day of my period and my boyfriend accidentally climaxed inside me. I took 4 nordette pills after 3 days of the deed and took another 4 pills after 12hrs of taking the first dose but I vomited less than 3 hours after taking it and I won't be able to drink another 4 pills because I forgot to bring the pills with me. Is it still effective if I drink another 4 pills by tomorrow night? Thanks so much!

Hi leila. Unprotected sex on your third day means that you are not ovulating or is not fertile either. I think even if you did not take the pills on the second dose and just took the first dose ( your case 3 days or 72 hrs) pregnancy is not to be considered. Getting the second dose after 3 days will not be effective anymore. Its just like ruining your cycle again. Let us know if you got withdrawal bleed since you took the first dose. Or any other symptoms like cramping.

Hi calendargirl, thanks for an inmediate response. I felt some light cramping but it doesn't bother me anyway. I'm scared because I have read some of articles about having an ovulation on the 5th day of period and the sperm can live up to 5 days in the body. But as you said so, I felt a little bit relieved. Will take pt after 2 weeks. Thanks!

Hi leila. Its a case to case basis. Each responds differently to every scenario but its really not common to ovulate that early unless u are really that irregular. So some opt for regular ocp to regulate the menstrual cycle. Anyway, hopefully you have withdrawal bleed soon.

Hi calendargirl, what if I didn't have a withdrawal bleeding is it because I am pregnant? When to expect that withdrawal bleeding? I didn't take the supposed to be second dose of nordette because you said so. I am regular when it comes to my period.
