Effectivity Of Nordette Contraceptive (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

Hi, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. I went to my OB last week and she told me that I was ovulating. And then my boyfriend accidentally ejaculated inside of me. After 20hrs I took the first 4 pills, and took the next 4 an hour late (because I fell asleep). Help me please? Is there a possibility I could get pregnant? Please, I'm really scared.

Re: Jess (# 561) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. Welcome. If you are sexually active, you can consult your ob for regular ocps. That way, your cycle will be regulated rather than taking ecp everytime which would affect your cycle.

Re: Babyboy (# 559) Expand Referenced Message

hi. you can try to call up mercury and inquire to be sure. i read an entry here that its not available or out of stock. i am not so sure. you can inquire through phone. remember if you take ecp, golden hour is up to 72 hours. the white like liquid may be her discharge too. well, not necessarily sperm per se.

Hi ask ko lang if saan available yung nordette, over the counter lang po ba sya sa mercury? And how much thanks. My gf and I had an unprotected intercourse last 2 hours ago, I pulled out but she says that when she wash her p*ssy theres some white liquid similar to semen, so she kinda gets nervous so I research about a emergency pill and here I am. thank you.

Re: Jess (# 557) Expand Referenced Message

hi. since this is the effect of the withdrawal bleeding, there may be some irregularities with your cycle for the meantime. so it might be better to just wait for your next cycle before you start your ocp. that way, you will not have a hard time monitoring. on the first day of your mens or within 5 days, you can take it and you are protected right away. if you opt to take it anytime during the regular cycle ( that is, after your period), wait for 7 days before protection sets in. you may ask your ob for new ocps in the market.

Re: Jess (# 555) Expand Referenced Message

hi. my side is with WB more since you took ecp. it is the side effect of the ecp. if you did not take any pills after your contact ( although withdrawal method due to pregnancy is not that common), and you did bleed after approximately day 8 after your ovulation day ( nov 26 deed day), we might think more of IB rather than WB. but since you took ecp, i might side with WB. if you are not comfy with yourself, you can do preg test ( not recommended) but for peace of mind, after 15 days more.

Hi. Update po. My bleeding lasts only for two days. And like what i've mentioned it is not heavy it does not even filled my pads. Please enlighten me, could that be an IB and not WB ?

Re: Jess (# 553) Expand Referenced Message

hi. thank you. for ocp, it depends on what brand you will be taking. there is the 21 days pills and the 28 days pills. the type of intake will depend on that.
for the 21 day pill, you take the pill 21 days straight same time. you will expect bleeding on the tab free days. after 7 days of tab free you take the 21 pills again each day same time.
for the the 28 days, you will take all the pills 28 days straight same time each day. the first 21 days pill will be colored differently from the rest of the 7 pills. the last 7 pills do not contain hormones and are placebo. it will just be a reminder for you but you need to take those tablets too. you will bleed in those days.
when can you start taking it:
you can take within 5 days of your mens. you will be protected right away.
you can also take it anytime of your cycle, but protection will come after 7 days of intake of the pill. you need to take other precautionary measures within those days.
you can also consult your OB because she will ask you about personal clinical history. and they know best about new drugs in the market.

Re: calendargirl (# 552) Expand Referenced Message

Yes po. Thank you for your patience with me. Actually this is the second time i took ecp. The first one was a year ago and this thread really helps a lot especially you . Anyways I have one last question .. Supposed that my wb will last this week, can i take ocp already or should i wait for my mens to be regular again ?

Re: Jess (# 551) Expand Referenced Message

hi. that would be the withdrawal bleed. some would count that as their first day of cycle. but its a good practice to take down or record the days of bleed since when you take ecp, cycle tends to be irregular for a while.

Re: Jess (# 548) Expand Referenced Message

hi. wait for your withdrawal bleed. 7-15 days the most. since you took the ecp, stay positive. stress and a lots of negative thoughts would make things worst in our mind.just think that you took the dose on the right period of time, its better than not taking at all right? lets say you did not take any ecp at all, you might think that chances may be higher then. withdrawal pregnancies are not common but may be possible but again, taking ecp would make your chances of pregnancy so much low or none at all. so wait for your bleed. stop those nega vibes.

Re: ParanoidAndScared (# 547) Expand Referenced Message

hi. based on your said data with 28 regular cycle, your deed was on day 6-7 ( nov15-16) and day 24-25 (dec3-4). if ovulation is on day 14 ( nov 23), you are in a safe period.the 5 days before nov 23 ( that is nov19-23) and a day after ( nov24) would be the fertile and ovulation day. since you are not in those brackets and if you are in a regular cycle, you are in a safe zone. many factors would affect our cycle like stress, so hopefully it would not interfere.

Re: Jess (# 539) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. The reliability of an app may or may not be accurate. The use of ecp is to delay ovulation. It renders the lining of uterus not conducive for implantation so that no fertization would take place. But take note, if theres implantation already, it would not stop. Just a note for all to know. Thank you.
