Ebixa For Migraine Relief?

My Neurologist has suggested Ebixa as a possibility for migraine prophylaxis. Is there any information about its use for migraine? Where can I find some information?

Ebixa contains the active ingredient Memantine, it is approved to treat Alzheimer's Disease.

I am not finding any specific details on it being used for migraine prevention, either, however, your doctor is allowed to prescribe something off-label, according to his experience.

I see a few articles where people have mentioned the possibility of using it to prevent them, but no details on its efficacy or testing.

Yes, I did discuss using Ebixa (Namenda) for migraines with my Neurologist, as well as researching it online, however I was just wanting to hear from other physicians who prescribed it and other people who use it, to find out their experiences with it. It has a lot of possible side-effects

Lana, every medication carries a very long list of possible side effects, even products you can buy over the counter. The warning labels and basic monographs generally only list the the first few that are most common.

To really see them all, you have to do a search for the drug name, followed by words such as 'physician's prescribing information' or 'full prescribing information.' If you do, you will be amazed at some of the possible side effects to even a very common medication, such as Tylenol or Advil.

The reason they don't list them all in the general information is because most people will never experience them and have to worry about it. The rare people that do are usually very sensitive to medications.
