East Tx Dr. Who Will Prescribe Stadol As An Acute Migraine Rescue Med...help Please?

Are there any doctors in east texas that aren't afraid to prescribe Stadol NS 3-4 bottles per month for Migraine rescue therapy. Many cite rebound. I've never had a problem with that. Other's say they are limited by the new laws, however I've learned this is not true. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am getting Botox treatments to reduce the number of headaches, and am on Imitrex (which works if I catch the migraine early enough, and Topomax. I would be willing to travel pretty much anywhere within a 6 hour radius of Tyler. The other meds help, but the Stadol is the only med over the past 36 years that has truly worked as a rescue med for the migraines when they become severe. It's that or go to the hospital, which as many of you know isn't always possible. I have only recently started the Botox, and am hoping and praying that it will reduce the need for the other meds...Stadol included. But they say it will take at least 2 treatments (6 months) to know if it's even going to be effective at all.

I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you.

Stadol was actually discontinued by the manufacturer and only the generics are now available.

And since it is an opioid, no doctor is just going to freely prescribe a lot of it, it isn't safe to do and wouldn't be responsible of them.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

How are things going with the botox?

The botox treatment made a difference in the frequence and severity of the migraines almost immediately. The doc said it could take as long as 6 months to note a difference. I'm not waking with the migraines daily like I was, and on the couple of days that I have, I've been able to get rid of the headache once with just 1/2 tab of Imitrex and a BC powder; the second one I used 1/2 tab of Imitrex and did need to follow up with 1 dose of the Stadol. All in all, I would highly recommend the Botox treatment to anyone who has chronic migraine.
