I have decided to stop using citalopram because i'm afraid of side effects. I started with 5 drops at evening , 6 drops the second day and 7 at the third time that was yesterday..I would like to know how degrading the dosage in order to avoid bad effects. Thanks, ALF.

Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them.

Is your medication in liquid form? If so, I think you are doing well in simply counting how many drops you use, even it takes a little longer to taper off of in this manner.

I am not a doctor though, so the best I can do is suggest to you that you are on the right track and that you may also want to consider double checking with your doctor if you do feel uneasy about the tapering process.

I hope this helps! Does anyone else have personal experience with this medication?
