Effectiveness Of Movantik
UpdatedHao effective % tage wise is MOVANTIK with the culprit of OIC? I have had a pain pump put in a year ago with 95% Morphine and 5% Marcaine. And oral medicines of morphine and NorcoT10-325 daily for pain breakthrough. I have had to use Milk of Magnesium for a year as well, due to OIC.
It gets to be such a burden not to be able to be and feel normal again along with the weight that I need to gain in a bad way.
SO BOTTOM LINE WHOM OUT THERE CAN TELL ME IF THIS STUFF WORKS? WHEN LINZESS CAME OUT I TRIED IT BUT WITH NO LUCK. DOES IT REALLY WORK?

It works VERY well, but plan on staying home the first time you take it, because two or three times that day, you will have the largest bowel movements you could imagine, at least twice as large as the largest you have ever had before, and they will literally force themselves out!
If you are impacted, take a stool softener first, or you could literally rip the lining of your intestine. There is a label warning about this for people with compromised bowel integrity, such as those with severe Crohn's.
P.S. You should know this by now but, despite advice from some well meaning doctors, unless/until your opioid induced gut paralysis has been undone with Movantik or Relistor, you should avoid fiber supplements like the plague, because fiber only adds to the problem when your gut muscles can't work..
My Dr. has had me Naltrexone for alcohol cravings. It doesn't work. I drink on it. Maybe the time of day I take it can help. My Dr says take it at bed time. OR If anybody that has the same problem I do, please talk. WHAT MEDS REALLY ALIVIATE ALCOHOL CRAVINGS, Other than NALTEXONE???
I'm on SR Morphine and Oxy IR and have been on pain mgmt for nearly 15 yrs..I take 25 mg. of Movantik along with the 290 mcg of Linzess every morning. I had been using Milk of Mag. for over a year as nothing else worked. This combination (Movantic 25mg and Linzess 290mcg) have been the first drugs that have helped me with my OIC (and I've tried every drug ever made for OIC). I'm usually able to have a BM about 1-2 hrs after taking the meds in the morning. Good Luck.
I have had OIC for longer than I can remember. Back surgeries, fusions, etc. Tried everything under the sun including a Morphine pump (which never worked properly). Relistor shots worked but had to stop due to unmanageable stomach pain.
Suddenly, it seems to have lost some of its effectiveness as I used to have a BM every day when I first started over 10 months ago. I'm trying to find out if anyone's ever taken or been prescribed 50 mg of Movantik per day? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Angel (# 2)
Have you tried Gabapentin?
Does the naltrexone keep you awake at night? I take LDN for CFS and I can’t imagine taking it at night. I only take 0.5 mg.
Can you sleep on a regular dose of naltrexone at night?
