small oval tablet
supposed to be metoprolol er 25 mg, but is different from previous (much smaller) generic for Toprol XLCB1D

It is, indeed, just another generic, Metropolol 25mgs.

There are no guidelines saying that all pills of the same dosage must look the same or be the same size. The way they look and the size is entirely up to the manufacturer.
