Dye Free Cough Syrup With Codeine And Guaifenesin

Does anyone know of cough syrup with codeine and guaifenesin (like Cheratussin ac) that is either dye-free or does not have red dye #40? My father has an allergy to red dye #40... Thanks!

What I'd suggest doing is going to a compounding pharmacy. They are specially prepared to handle such problems and mix up the needed medications in the dosages ordered, or without certain ingredients that someone may be allergic to.

They may require confirmation of the allergy from his doctor and it is usually more expensive, but would be well worth it to avoid an allergic reaction.

I commented on this same thing to my husband. I have had this med before and it has been red with a cherry flavor, but this is a pink/orange color and it tastes horrible. It has a bad sour taste.
