Duration Of Action Of Losartan To Get Cure The Hypertension

My husband is taking Losartan since last 50 days and his protein and blood content in urine is 2+ now, is it a side effect? and his BP still fluctuating. How much time it may take to cure? is there any additional things to get manage during this medication period like dietary management and exercise?
