To understand.
I totally understand where you're coming from Kamarx. It seems very unreasonable for patients to be paying these doctors so much money when in fact one can't make their own decisions with what they prescribe us. Oddly enough we're paying them to give us the type of treatment/service that a patient necessarily want, which in all fairness doesn't make sense.
Some personal advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any 'specific medication' when you see a new doctor. Just make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you. Then, the best approach in my opinion, is to discuss up front and honestly what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. Most doctors will take it under consideration and hear you out if you approach them in this manner. I believe a lot of patients don't get the medication they need because they are approaching the doctor in such a needy way that they are being viewed as addicts or junkies and not patients. So as awkward as that may seem, it is something to consider and be made aware of, because sadly enough, that is how many rudimentary doctors tend to think.
In any case I hope you're able to enjoy the rest of the night. It's pretty late here, but I'll keep an eye out for your responses! :)
David, hey thanx for the advice you definatley have that right. It just gets really obnoxious when Dr.s seem like they don't wanna hear it.I have always taken my records w me. Just gets old. Seems damned if do and if you dont. Nobody should have to live w constant pain when there are meds that will at the very least make it tolerable. that's why we have these types of medications I thought. Again ty for your input. :)
I live out here in Utah. I had a tumor n the dura at c2/c3. It is a miracle own walking. 2 5 hour surgeries they got it out. Needless to say I was left with partial left side major problems. Even affects my swallowing and esofogus. That was 6 years ago. I also have multi levels fused in lumbar with titanium. I hurt 24/7. I am o my 45 and I sold my chef business of 7 years last year because I got my last level fused a year ago this past June. That one did me in. Six figure salary down to no zero salary. People take their health for granted. I have been on SK much meds my DEA sheet is like 4/5 pages. I need a new good doc out here in salt lake who won't think I am a junkie. Some pain doctors are real a**hole (Please forgive the Furness), some are great. I just got booted out of my pain doc who was really good. Botixed half my neck. Really good. My primary care started giving me Lyrics a d it worked great. Pain doc found out and said that is a scheduled 5 substance a d kicked me out. Crazy or what?? 1 got 180 8 MGS dilaudid. Sorry for rambling and that is for listening. Anyone know a good pain doc out here in salt lake city, please let me know. DK out....
