Drixoral Alternatives
UpdatedI had a stockpile of Drixoral because I live in South America and it is not (nor has it ever been) available here, but it finally ran out. I have tried many things which either do not help at all or not as well as Drixoral. However, I have recently tried Claritin-D 24 which seems to help me just as much as Drixoral did. However, there is one side-effect of this product which I cannot live with: 1 pill keeps me awake for 24 hours. Now I am going to try the Clalritin-D 12 to see if it will allow me to sleep. Hopefully it will only keep me awake for 12 hours.

I tried the Claritin 24-hour formula without the Pseudoephedrine, but got no help watsoever. However, after using Claritin-D 12-hour for a week, I am happy to report that I have had good results. Like the 24-hour formula, it caused some amphetamine-like symptoms but they wore off in time to get a good night's sleep. Additionally, these effects seem to be lessening with continued use. I only take one every other day, just like I did the Drixoral.
I still prefer the Drixoral and will be very relieved when (if) it returns to the market.
Yes, Claritan-D is close, but still doesn't clear my head like Drixoral did. I took Drixoral for close to 45 years, after taking it to clear my ears for scuba diving ! Somebody did get me some Disophrol Repetabs from Turkey that works just as well, but is hard to get. I actually liked it better, because I was allergic to the cornstarch in Drixoral. There was another prescription which is no longer made in the U.S. CPM/PSE 8-120 is a capsule which seemed to have the same formula as Drixoral ! Good luck in finding a replacement. Having allergies and a compromised sense of balance is no fun !
Found substitute for Drixoral and it WORKS. Tried all the rest they don't work!Allegra-D in 12 hour or 24 hour. I am in Canada, I hope you can get it.
