Dr. Wrote Rx For 60 Oxycodone, Picked Up Rx, Went To Pharmacy, Then They Said "dr. Isn't Authorizing The Fill"??

This happened within a matter of 2 hours. I called the doc in the morning as I was down to 2 oxyxodone pills of an rx of 60 filled 4/7/11.
I only take when ibuprofen isn't working and then I still try to take ibuprofen to the point I'm taking 2 bottles of 160 tabs every 5 WEEKS!
I told my doc about the ibuprofen and said I'm afraid my liver or kidneys are damaged or soon will be.
She suggested the oxycodone for days when the pain has me stuck in bed and I followed those instructions.
I do not get any other pain meds from any other doctor period! I take it for severe arthritis in both arms and wrists (I broke both at the same time after a fall 3 years ago), I have carpal tunnel in the right hand, lower back issues from scoliosis, and headaches that aren't migraines or helped with any headache medication (I've tried them all,
So they call me and say "the doctor wrote a script for you but you need to pick it up". I just saw her 5 days prior but forgot to mention I was down to 2 oxyxodone pills.
Then I have to borrow gas money, find someone to get my son to kung fu, and wait at Target 30 min only to be told they called the doc to verify the RX and she said "do not fill"??
Then I called the doc and they said she needs to see you again. I said why? I was just there? They couldn't answer so now I have the RX back with big red marker on it saying do not fill.
I'm on Medicaid and I believe they want me back for the Medicaid payment because nothing changed in 5 days and it's been a long time since I filled that pain med (or any pain med) I only see one doctor so not too much mystery.
Was it the pharmacy or the greedy doctor?
I do not understand this and am not happy to be stuck having to go back again and go thru hassle of finding a ride across town and hoping they don't get my appt wrong as they usually do.
Any idea why this happened??

They will know anywhere in your state if you filled a script period let slone at 28 days insurance or cash a week early, wow you for sure have problems! Don't do it, u may find your doc feel good will throw u to the curb . Never get anything filled early. If ur under a pain contract your being tracked period and you will void it if you don't stay with the same pharmacy if u change it u must tell the doctor who wrote the script!
On Jan 28th my md refilled my regular 10-325 oxycodone. It was a week to soon for insurance. He knew that and authorized it through walgreens. I still have pain two months after back surgery. He's not the doc who performed surgery. But he is my regular backnowledge doctor. Anyway I paid out if pocket cash. I couldn't wait the extra week. It was 120 pills. It looks like I'm going to have same problem. I don't want to tell him again. Anyway, I'm going to see him a week before the 30 days since last refill on the 28th. I know he'll write me the script as always thinking I'll fill it a week later on February 28th. Thats normal for us. My question is I'm actually going to fill it that day but this time using insurance. It'll definitely go through now. January 7th was the previous time I used insurance. Can I do that? I'll go to a different pharmacy, probably walmart cosco or another grocery store. Will they know about the one filled for cash on January 28th. I don't want to get flagged. My doctor won't be upset I don't think. He knows the severity of my pain. I just feel bad. This is the second time in a row I didn't make to end of month. I'm not abusing my meds.
That is probably the stupidest thing you could do in your situation. Making threats to a doctor/practice for not filling a schedule II narcotic for you is the biggest red flag in the book. I won't be surprised if they discharge you as a patient and never see you again, as I know most doctors and practices would.
The fact is, it was your fault in the first place that you did not bring your medicine to the doctor and ask for a refill when you previously went to your appointment. You're blaming the doctor for following the legal standards he upholds as an MD for your mistake.
Anyone know pain management dr that will prescribe opiates near camp hill pa
Yes I was aware of that law but the last time she wrote the RX was also 3 days after she saw me and I had to physically pick up the prescription and take it the pharmacy.
What I don't get is that the pharmacy wasn't the problem, they called the doctor and even though I spoke to her nurse hours earlier and was told to pick up the rx, the doctor told the pharmacy "do not fill this" even though it was written and taken to be filled within a 6 hour period.
why didn't the doctor mention this when I picked it up and was there to see her, yet again?
I sent the prescription back to the doc with a letter stating if I die from taking 360 /200mg ibuprofen pills every 5 weeks for pain, my family is to sue them for not checking my liver and kidneys and providing me some alternative to the medication. Thanks for your help
It's actually due to the new federal laws that were put in place several years ago. When it is a straight narcotic, such as Oxycodone, it requires a doctor's visit to get a new prescription and it doesn't matter if you were just there recently, or not.
The doctor isn't allowed to provide a prescription, nor can a pharmacy fill a prescription, if no visit with the doctor was done to obtain it.
