Dr Has Quit Pm And Can't Find A Doc In Or Around Houston

My pain management doctor will no longer practice PM and the doctor he referred his patients to will not take me because he said he was an interventional doc and there isn’t anything he can do for me. I have been taking 20 mg methadone 2x a day and 30 mg oxycodone 3x a day for breakthrough. He obviously didn’t want to take me as a patient due to my meds. I live in Houston but will travel to Dallas, San Antonio, Austin or anywhere within 250 miles. I have been in chronic pain many years. I would be so very greatful for help. I can’t find any doctor in H town that will take over my PM. Thanks in Advance

Your best bet until you can find a new doctor is go to a methadone clinic so you dont go in withdrawal and find a family doctor and they will refer you to a pain clinic. Your pain doctor now can't refer you to a new pain clinic?

As a patient with a spinal condition, I've been forced to spend more and more time in pursuit of the pain medication that served me well for more than 20 years. The physicians Hippocratic Oath has been waived as health care providers scramble to preserve to their own survival.
This whole regulatory/bureaucratic mess reminds me of that time in WWII, where US citizens of Japanese origin where taken from their homes and forced into concentration camps. (A read stroke of administrative genius).

I expect that I'll be making a trip to our capitol in Austin, petitions and testimonials in hand, as a representative of the citizens fighting for the right to the medication that sustains us!

I think that list sounds like your best bet. I am not on pain management medication, but I do take a controlled drug & live in Texas. Texas has some of the strongest laws about these drugs & physicians are scared right now because of all the publicity about the misuse of these drugs. Guess who suffers from this? Patients who truly need these medications & aren't misusing them. I hope you can find a doctor to help you in Houston. If you can't, I'm in Dallas & I will do some research here for you.
