Dr. Recommendation (Top voted first)

Updated

I am new to Georgia. I live about 45 minutes south of Atlanta. My Dr. back home prescribed me Hydrocodone and/or Tramadol for menstrual pains. My menstrual pains have inconvenienced me 5 days a month for as long as I could remember until I met my Dr. back home. I don't want to waste the time or money going to a Dr. here for him to tell me to take 800mg Ibuprofen and call it a day. Any recommendations for doctors who are open minded to pain medication?

Hi, Brooke! Sorry about the pain you've suffered.

It isn't that doctors aren't open minded and don't want to treat pain, it's that there are restrictions on what they can prescribe, why they can prescribe it, how much they can prescribe and for how long they can prescribe it.

Since this is related to your menstrual cycle, most general practitioners will not feel qualified to help and will refer you to a gynecologist to get help.

A good gyno will most likely want to do some checking to figure out what's causing your pain and see if there is a permanent solution, rather than just prescribing pain medications each month.

Has an ultrasound ever been done to check and see what causes the pain?

Does anyone know of a good doctor in that area?

Hi, I know it's been a while some your post, but have you had any luck? I just moved to Atlanta and need a doctor for norco. My cramps are severe and my doctor prescribed it because taking so much ibuprofen and Tylenol was just going to ruin my liver
without helping at all...
There's so many clinics here but there's such a stigma now like you're a drug addict when you just don't want to be in debilitating pain for several days.
Thank you,
Faith

There are no new laws or restriction that say what drs can prescribe certain meds and for what. It is up to the dr. Try getting an appt with a PCP or a Gynecologist. Drs don't prescribe strong meds like Norco for monthly cramps like they use to. There are newer meds that may be more appropiate.
