This drug doesn't seem to be available at any dose. Have they stopped making it? I take it for rosacea...

I also take doxycycline for rosacea, my dermatologist thinks it is best for me, it seems to control the flair ups and probs with my eyes, she prescribed something else for now and it reaaly doesn't work as well, drug companies are supposed to help not hinder!!!

Yesterday I renewed my prescription at my Walmart pharmacy. For the past several months it has been $10 for 60 capsules. This time, I was going to be charged $220! Needless to say I did not take the prescription. Shame on who ever manufactures this stuff for ripping off patients - guess I'll just live with rocasea.

Oh it's back in stock ... that's for sure! It now costs over $4.00 per tablet or capsule! The companies that make Doxycycline have raised the price by about 10,000%! UNREAL!

My dog has an auto-immune disorder & takes doxycycline. When I went to the vet today, I was told they will not be stocking it until the price stabilizes. I went to my local pharmacy for a price & then started shopping online. I have a followup with the vet tomorrow to review his bloodwork and will give them the information I found to hopefully help other people.

I own a pharmacy. It is true that there is a shortage of doxycycline in the marketplace right now. I have a bunch of it in stock. I was able to get it before it went into short supply. The makers of the drug have increased the price by a multiple of 25 though! It is much more expensive than it is was just a couple of months ago.

I have been told that this is a global problem! I finally found some generic doxycycline at a local pharmacy. All the other pharmacies were out and had no idea when they would get more. One pharmacist told me he thought it was not the lack of raw materials but more of greed... there is much more money to be made in brand name drugs (Oracea) than in generics so the drug companies stop making generic doxycycline! We may never see it again. Have you seen how much Oracea costs? Over $500 a perscription! And the Oracea savings card doesn't work like it used to. At the very least you will pay over $100.

Hi lynn,

According to The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists: As of December 10, 2012, there has been a shortage in Doxycycline Capsules and Tablets, mainly due to supply and demand (with a lack of raw materials).

Unfortunately, it seems as though no one really knows when they will be restocking the supply.
