Doxycycline Expiration/chlamydia Treatment

I have some Doxycycline capsules which were prescribed to me in Sept 10 as anti-malarials to use when travelling. I have been to the doctors recently and given Augmentin for testicular pain, (which as a sympton is accompanied by a watery discharge from the penis). I have completed the course of Augmentin (three days ago), the testicular pain has ceased but the watery discharge remains. The doctor instructed me to got to the local sexual health clinic with a possible UTI/STI, but for some inexplicable reason it has been closed from starting the day I tried to go, for another three weeks. I believe from these symptoms I have Chlamydia, my question is: is it safe to take these capsules ten months after they were prescribed? I do not know (and have looked for) the manufacture date, however prescription date (in the UK) is Sept 10. The capsules are green, with "G de 100" written on them. The discharge appears more often, the Augmentin appears not to have stopped this, and I would have to wait three weeks for a test. I am abroad. Thanks.

Generally, antibiotics, such as Doxycycline have an expiration date of one year from that date they were dispensed to you. Thus, they should not expire until September of this year.

The problem you may run into, however, is not having enough of them to clear up the infection, or the possibility that the discharge isn't caused by an infection.

Thus, it is very important that you see a doctor, as soon as possible to get to the root of the problem and get a proper treatment protocol.
