Doxycycl Hycl Cap 100mg & Side Effects (Top voted first)

After having a toe nail removed, and the nail matrix killed I was prescribed DOXY-CYCL HYCL 100MG TAB. It has caused fevers, vomiting, tingling in my feet and a sunburn.

The doctor said to finish the seven day course? What a freak, this is horrible, I want to flush this torture in a prescription bottle.

What can I request as a replacement antibiotic?

I had been taking this medication for an infection in my eye for about twent back to see the Dr. which told me to keep taking them until finish. On thanksgiving day I woke up not feeling well at all everything hurt didn't have energy. Told my daughter I wouldn't be able to make the turkey. About 5:00pm my son came to my room told me dinner was ready after that I don't remember a thing. I was told I had a argument with my son told him some horrible thing went to my room an took a whole bottle of Xanax ended up in the hospital for 5 days.

Those are definitely not normal side effects, but rather they are considered severe ones that can be dangerous and no, you shouldn't continue to take this antibiotic.

It's hard to suggest a replacement, without knowing yoru medical history. What other antibiotics have you used in the past, that you didn't have a bad reaction to?

I think it really depends on whether or not you have a fungal infection vs a general infection from a cut or what-have-you. Some antibiotics won't necessarily work for a fungal infection and would require antifungal medication.

Regarding some alternatives for Doxycycline though, I would suggest Ciproflaxcin, Penicillin, or Sulfamethoxazole. But there are many more brands as well as natural alternatives (such as oregano essential oil) to consider trying as well.
