Are you taking it on an empty stomach?
It may help to take it with a light meal, but milk should be avoided, because it can decrease how much of the medication is absorbed.
The same problem can arise if you try it with a calcium based antacid, so you'd have to be careful what you take if you try that.

The best thing to do would be contact your doctor and ask their advice, to see what is safe for you to use to alleviate the problem.
As to the kidney pain, have you had diarrhea while taking this?
If so, that may be due to some dehydration, so you may need to increase your fluids, if it's medically permissible for you to do so.
