Doriden/glutethimide Availability (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

Does anyone know where one could obtain glutethimide or it's brand name Doriden (CIBA Company)? Am in Canada where Doriden was discontinued in late 1980s and I was told Doriden discontinue was international. Perhaps there is now a generic form containing glutethimide available now as I would assume CIBA trademark rights would have by now expired. As the benzodiazapine replacement meds for Doriden are more addictive and dangerous (especially if mixing with alcohol & other drugs) it sure would be great to be able to go back to Doriden or glutethimide which were more effective and safer. A shame that the public was switched over to benzodiazipines (i.e. lorazapam, diazapam) when a better/safer product was available all in the name of profits and economics. Any help out there is most appreciated.

That would be great, either China or India has the capability to do it I'm sure.

Re: Joseph (# 109) Expand Referenced Message

Unfortunately no. I still check this page randomly to see if you had any luck.

Doesn't look good. I was happy to see you post a note though.

From my experience, the only thing that comes close to the effects is fentanyl which is now extremely difficult to get prescribed and for me, way too risky to acquire any other way. Due to its potency, it is dangerous consuming it when dosage is difficult to determine from unreliable sources.

I have officially given up my search for this grail.

Re: Fred (# 124) Expand Referenced Message

No Fred it's not the same as aminoglutethimide. The DL stands for delimited, or inactive, usually sold in a very small amount in a milliliter of methanol. Used for research purposes, I don't know on what but I've seen it online before and it's of no value. I wish I could have better news but I don't think we will ever see them again, I'm sorry to say. As for the dark web, many scammers out there, and synthesis of Glutethimide is very complex as compared to the more simpler barbiturates. Try to keep in touch.

Re: Joseph (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Yes Joseph, we called them loads. They almost felt like life’s and even though I loved that stuff back in the day I’m grateful they are gone. I’m not sure where the OP got that Doridens are safer than Benzos. That would be funny if it wasn’t so scary.

Re: R (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

If Glutethimide is still available in Hungary, which I have heard many times over the years from many different sources, I don't think that they can be mailed to a different country, I'm in the US by the way, we would have to venture over to Hungary. They were made under the brand name Noxyron by Richter Geodon Pharma in Hungary, at least up until '06. I don't think the Tardyl combination with the Amobarbital and Promethazine is still available. That's a little overkill in my opinion. I am only interested in the Glutethimide (Doriden) 500 mg. tablet. The Tardyl combination tablet had two layers, first the Glutethimide was released, then you would fall asleep, then time released Amobarbital (Amytal was the brand name by Lilly) would kick in with the Promethazine (Phenergan) to keep you asleep through the night without waking up and having a hard time getting back to sleep. Anyway, Glutethimide was quite popular in my area of NJ, they were known as "hits", or "ciba and Codeine", because Ciba synthesized Glutethimide in the mid 50's and the tablets were stamped CIBA on them. In the 70's the rights were sold to the US Vitamin (USV) subsidiary of Rorer Pharmaceutical, which made the USV 354 white, round ,scored tablets. I remember a few generic Glutethimide manufacturers, Halsey Drug with their HD 550 tablet, Medeva and their MD 529, and Rugby Labs with their R 3870 tablets. There were several reasons why Glutethimide was discontinued in the US. But getting back to Hungary, are they still prescribed there? If I know for sure I will get my passport together and contact my local travel agency. Then there is the question of bringing any back to the US, legal questions, I don't want to break any laws. I used Glutethimide with codeine for about ten years or more. Very euphoric and pleasurable, nothing comes close to my Glutethimide and Codeine combination. Please let me know. Thanks.

Re: R (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

The Tardyl combination was (or still is) made by Extractum Pharma of Hungary. Also, Hungry was a major importer of Glutethimide. I am only interested in the Glutethimide 500mg tablets, not the Tardyl combination of 125mg of Glutethimide, 50mg of Amobarbital (Amytal) and 25 mg of Promethazine (Phenergan). Please let us know of the availability of Glutethimide in Hungary and Romania, and I believe Bulgaria too.

Re: Joseph (# 16) Expand Referenced Message

I've been reading your posts and my interest is definitely peaked regarding the availability of Glutethimide in Eastern Europe. Like you I still dream about them often and would love to experience them again. My original source dried up in 93 and then I discovered the internet in 99 and started getting them from Bulgaria until 2003. At that time the pharmacy went out of business and the source dried up. They had 250mg Glutethimide and 20mg Codeine phosphate. I don't have a passport but I'll get one real quick if I know they are available.

Re: fred (# 17) Expand Referenced Message

I'm sorry to have to tell you this but according to Martindale the last year for Glutethimide in Hungary was '06, that is the year that Ranbaxy Pharma of India purchased Terapia Pharma of Hungary and discontinued their low selling medications and Glutethimide was one of them. There still may be a company called Balkanpharma of Bulgaria, I'm looking into it. You are a lucky man to have been getting them up til '03, I lost them in '93 here in the US, so you had 20 more years than me. When I get more info I will post it here, but it looks like the benzo family has replaced them, just like they replaced everything else that was good. One day I will be reunited with my beloved Glutethimide.

I’m going too..All this talk of doriden has me getting all euphoric. The big question is how to get through 1. The X-ray machine, 2. Customs.

We called the Glutethimide (Doriden) and codeine "hits" or "Cibas and codeine" in my area of NJ. We can all go and charter a flight!

Re: Joseph (# 13) Expand Referenced Message

I just checked the internet and Doriden is still listed class 2, but here’s the funny part. The DEA Has a quota of 3 grams which is equivalent to 6 Doriden tablets

That quota is only for the US, and it shows that Glutethimide is probably being used for some kind of research.

Re: Joseph (# 19) Expand Referenced Message

Well really only 4 more because after they discontinued in the states un 93 its wasn't till 99 that i discovered them again thanks to the internet. There a export company from India claiming to have it but im very skeptical. Looks like they have it in non pressed, loose powder and i wouldn't risk it. Well i guess i can still dream of a European vacation.

Yes, I would be weary too. But China and India may be the last hope for Glutethimide. Oh how I yearn for those days.

Re: Fred (# 26) Expand Referenced Message

Yes Fred, I wouldn't buy anything in a powder form purporting to be Glutethimide either. We have to put our collective heads together and figure out how and where we can find some real Glutethimide somewhere.

Re: Joseph (# 28) Expand Referenced Message

I was offered Glutethimide tablets online, quite expensive and they're using the USV 354 imprint on the tablet! I'm thinking scam, they will not even send me a one tablet sample. If they were legit they would be more than happy to send a one tablet sample to have tested.
