Does Oxy's Effect Duration Get Shorter?

Hi, It's well established that you need more oxy as your tolerance builds over time. However, is it also established that the duration of relief shortens too?

I'm in pain 3-3.5 hours after a dose now, whereas it used to be 4+ hours. Is this common? If so, that really, really sucks :(

Yes, that is normal, as your tolerance builds you start to experience less pain relief and for shorter periods of time.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

You might do better with a time released formulation that lasts 12 hours, but that would be up to your doctor. However, it is worth informing them of the problem and seeing if some solution can be found.
