Does It Work On Bug Bites

I used Gelmicin in Mexico to relieve the itching of bug bites... it seemed to work well but want to know if it really did work or was it a placibo effect?

When you have itching or irritation from bug bites, it is actually due to an allergic reaction to various components in their saliva, for instance, mosquito saliva contains a substance that helps keep the blood from clotting, for awhile, so they can feed and the raised welt with itching is due to your body having an allergic reaction to it….

That said, and getting to my point, one of the ingredients in Gelmicin is a steroid, Betamethasone, and they are often used to treat allergic reactions, because they can help reduce the body's immune response, as well as reduce the inflammation, so no, it most likely was not just a placebo effect.

It can, however, cause some side effects, as reported by the FDA, which may include skin irritation, dryness, redness and acne.
