Does Anyone Taking Lyrica Have Memory Loss? (Page 23)

Updated

I have been on Lyrica for about 8 months now and I am having fantastic results. My dr is trying to increase my dosage and I have been doing it in 50 mg increments. I am up 100 more now in a month, for a total dosage of 400mg. I find that I have very bad recall and loss of my vocabulary during conversation. It eventually goes away, but I was wondering if anyone else has this? If it keeps up, I just may have to drop back down 50mg until I get used to it? That seemed to work that last time I had to raise it.BTW, I have nerve pain in my ribcage. (not caused by shingles)

I have been trying to learn Bridge but I am having a difficult time. I am not able to "connect the dots" and have a hard time concentrating. I have been on the max dosage of Lyrica for 3 years and I am worried about its effects.
Are there alternatives?

I'm tapering down and so far so good. I was prescribed Lyrica for fibromyalgia. For what seemed no reason the doctor kept raising the dose. I began losing my memory, and it seems I'm beginning to recover even though I still forget words just when I'm going to say them. At least I now remember 'what I went to the kitchen for', if you know what I mean.

I was prescribed Lyrica 75mg for my spinal cord pain, then later my script was changed to pregabalin. Anyhow, both are the same, but in using Lyrica 75mg, I had side effects: confusion, weight gain, hair loss, forgetting names of people, but the worst was when I went to the ER in AUBMC (Lebanon) where I was shown to have short term memory loss. I'm now taking Vitamin B12 1mg, Buvable. If anyone reads about the side effects of Lyrica 75mg, I had all of them.

I have DBD and neuropathy due to an unsuccessful spine surgery and have been prescribed Lyrica. Since being on Lyrica I have noticed the memory loss, insomnia, weight gain, vision loss, teeth rotting because of dry mouth, loss of words, can't figure out what words to use when talking. This doesn't even touch all of it. I have contacted several attorneys and no one it seems is willing to take the case. This is wrong what this drug is doing to us and the people we trust the most with our health are basically shoving this drug down our throats and don't care that it's not helping. It's making us worse. Someone please help us!!! Please!

I am tapering off Lyrica. I'm not done yet and I still forget words. However there are times when I feel I am getting better. I really hope so. I am being very careful and so far no withdrawal symptoms. Good luck!!

Yes to all your side effects of Lyrica!! Yes.

Short story. Falls. I had more serious falls on Lyrica than ever before. One night I went out my door to bring my dog in. A beautiful night, by the way. So I stepped out my door, and next thing I knew I was back in my bed with a very painful and swollen black eye. A real shiner. Like someone came in my yard and decked me. No idea. No memory whatsover. Every trip I've ever taken, and there have been many since large cerebellar stroke, I remember going down and getting back up. That night, I just remember hubby asking what the #$%& happened? Going out the next day, hoping to trigger a memory, nothing....absolutely nothing brought back that memory. Don't know where in my yard, or how I got back into my house. Scary stuff to have caused COMPLETE amnesia. Scary stuff. After reading about the side effects, after the use of, I tapered off and quit using it. Trigeminal neuralgia, neuropathy, will not longer be treated by that poison.

I took it for 10 years when I was told I had fibromyalgia. It causes weight gain, memory loss and interferes with my eyes. The side effects don't go away. They get worse. I wean myself off...now I can remember things and read better and have lost weight.

Though Lyrica did a fantastic job of taking care of pain, I stopped taking it because of memory loss and general fogginess. Word loss was apparent to all, and I kept losing my place in a conversation. Family was worried it was the onset of dementia. Stopping it cured the problem, but it took awhile.

Re: Kat (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

Lyrica is a very potent medication with horrible side effects. I have amnesia where I have no recall from time to time which is frustrating for those around me because I act normal. If you take Medical Marijuana, do not take the day time blend. I fell down everywhere, I had tremors, I could not remember what I started to discuss and asked people, what was I saying. But the worse part if you want to wean off with a doctors assistance he will tell you the side effects are worse. You're on Lyrica for life.

I have been on Lyrica for four years at 75mg three times a day, but usually only one in the AM and PM. I also developed over the years many symptoms that were identical to different auto-immune disorders. The worst of which is AMENSIA, not memory loss which sometimes with enough prompting will bring back some memory. AMENSIA however, is a loss of time and never returns i.e., watching a movie with no recall the next day; participating in a project with no recall; people discussing very important decisions with no recall. This is the difference from memory loss to a block of time lost forever. It is a side effect that is very casually mentioned by the doctor prescribing or the pamphlet inside of the Lyrica box. This is permanent and worse yet is when you and your doctor begin the weaning off process may release more side effects and as difficult to wean off as opiates. Has anyone been weaned off of Lyrica? If so, please share your experience.
