Does Anyone Taking Lyrica Have Memory Loss? (Page 20) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been on Lyrica for about 8 months now and I am having fantastic results. My dr is trying to increase my dosage and I have been doing it in 50 mg increments. I am up 100 more now in a month, for a total dosage of 400mg. I find that I have very bad recall and loss of my vocabulary during conversation. It eventually goes away, but I was wondering if anyone else has this? If it keeps up, I just may have to drop back down 50mg until I get used to it? That seemed to work that last time I had to raise it.BTW, I have nerve pain in my ribcage. (not caused by shingles)
Kitty , Typical lefty , i know it all, dont tell me , my eyes and ears are shut ...
Greg , the Lyrica will degrade your cognitive function as sure as the sun rises in the East and sets in the West , the longer you take it the greater the damage and the more likely memory and cognitive problems will become a permanent life long side effect from this horrible drug that should never have made it onto the market ....
I finally went off Lyrica for side effects you described plus swelling of legs and weight gain. It did work for pain but just couldn't stand the side effects.
Thats just 300mg a day which is actually a normal therapuetic dose. It just seems like alot because you're taking 2 50mg at a time instead of the normal 100mg pills that you'll eventually be prescribed.
Nick is right, Greg. Lyrica might ease certain medical conditions like nerve pain, but it messes with the brain dreadfully. Don't go back on it. Read all the posts on this site and you'll understand.
Don't take it: it obviously doesn't work for you. Go see a new doctor at a teaching hospital.
In regard to tooth decay, I have been on Lyrica 4 years and have had no problem with tooth decay. However, dry mouth causes tooth decay and one of the side effects of Lyrica can be dry mouth and dry eyes. I keep my mouth moist by using a moisturizing rinse for dry mouth and I use a moisturizing eye drops to bedtime and upon waking.
Nick, I don't understand your post which you addressed to me. Are you a lefty? How does that pertain to the discussion about lyrica and memory loss? What do you mean by, "I know it all, don't tell me..." Do you mean you share my experience of similar side effects from lyrica? I'm confused. Could you explain?
Nick - your post re Democratic Party (USA) is simply wrong and even delusional. That country's two main parties have very little difference policy/economically/business/Foreign Affairs wise but at least they TRY in the face of opposition in Congress from the dumbest and most evil politicians since the days of Stalin and Hitler: Bus***e Republicans. You really are a joke in other countries (President TRUMP? Oh my God that might even BE likee Fascist Germany/Italy!). Here in W Europe we see the only credible candidate with a real 21 Century agenda as Bernie Saunders. He CARES. It is just a pity that once in the White Place he will only take a couple of days to find out he is NOT the 'most powerful leader in the world' but merely another marionette whose strings are being operated by the Bush and Rockefeller families in particular through their minions serving as Republican Senators, Governors and Representatives. Some no doubt unwittingly but we know who REALLY runs the US.
Give the bastards a dose of 1, 200mg Lyrica daily and screw up their brains. Just so the rest of the world can finally stop being interfered with by these pieces of nasty doo-doo who run the US through money and lackeys on the Hill bypassing the democratically elected President! Or should that be a dose of 5 or ten GRAMS of pentobarbital sodium instead? Then we need not worry about them again & you will end up actually being governed by the guy most of you voted for! May Saunders triumph as he is the only credible politician currently in the race and acceptable to the rest of the developed world.
I am on 325 Mgs/day. Is anyone have near fainting spells in the first half of the day? Also does anyone have brain burning?
Absolutely he could be wrong since 50% of MS patients don't have lesions on their brain or they get them much later in their disease. If you have all of the MS symptoms other wise get a 2nd opinion.
For many people, the loss becomes worse with higher doses, and can also become permanent, meaning if you stop, your recall/ memory does not recover. It is a "rock and a hard place" drug.
I would like to think some one in authority will read about our suffering and make it known to the world .
Apologies to the Republicans in the US for my last post, but in my opinion the last credible President representing that party was Abraham Lincoln...
Lyrica or any of the generic pregabalin (not a single one of which is worth using they are so poor - it is expensive and I suggest getting the brandname from India. It is one of only around 6 drugs made or marketed by Pfizer in that country and though extremely expensive for India it is peanuts co pared to the West).
Personally I woyld never touch it having been given it for my lumbar pain after carisoprodol was banned almost worldwide (India again but quality poor compared with the best in the world, the high priced Finadiet LISTAFLEX 350 from Argentina, who no longer allow export of medicines). Ataxia, amnesia, feeling and acting drunk although TT - it is simply a horrible drug with too many debilitating side effects and what's more is not even effective for the condition it was prescribed for in place of now-banned Carisoma.
Sounds pretty similar to me. I still have some pain but its so much better off Lyrica. I had urinary issues and the brain process issues. My feet kill me, but that's due to bone spurs as I fell quite often, waiting for surgery.
I have to say that the commercial with the teacher using Lyrica is very Scarry. I never drove on the medicine much less be responsible for 20 kids.
There is no way I can get off of lyrica. Although I grasp for words (realized it is only nouns (both improper and proper) and I have had weight gain and swelling,it allows me to lead a normal life. (I have trigeminal neuralgia)
Who told you that Carisoprodol (Soma) was banned? I get 90 pills a month and I have another script with 5 refills ready to go for when I run out in 2 weeks. I last filled a script 2 weeks ago. It's not a banned drug, I've checked, my Dr. asked me who told me that and I was embarrassed to say I read it online, lol. Maybe your doctor has chosen to ban writing scripts for it but it's not a banned drug.
Lyrica may react in different ways with different people. Some don't have the side effects of loss of memory and inability to remember certain words. You are the lucky ones. Most of the people I read who took it have the loss of memory years after stopping taking the drug. I still don't have my memory back and have been off it since 2006. I was only on it for a month and it fired my brain. Lyrica works by interfering with the signals between the neurons and also will destroy neurons. Lyrica caused the hospital I had worked for to get rid of me after working there 29 years. Lyrica may help some but for the most of us it has wrecked our lives either by destroying our brains or see our friends or relatives destroy themselves or commit suicide. This is a dangerous drug and any evaluations that were done was either not enough or was covered up.
I agree. That's what I did, get off it, but very slowly. Brain damage (memory issues don't necessarily change) and diapers is not for me. Getting off it took an incredible toll on my body. Not easy to do.
Hello I have been on lyrica since last June 2015 . I have also notice bad recall now and spasms which have increased mainly when I get up in the morning and tight leg muscles.
I have also known my speech is becoming very slurred. Not sure why it's happening though
